Interstate tow is going to cost more than my live body would be worth on the black market sex slave trade... An enclosed trailer seems a bit over the top... Anyone...? Amtrak...?

Amtrak seems smart. Just park your car on the tracks, and wait for the train to take your car away...

IMHo and experience rail is the cheapest.....and not always the slowest either.

What, does the car not run? I see all this talk all the time about shipping cars, and asking for recommendations. I drove my 30yr old Pantera halfway across the country when I bought it. You slackers need to toughen up! ;)

LOL, I'm really the wrong guy to vent that to - I say the same thing all the time...! I can't imagine why people ship fully functioning cars, unless they're going overseas...

You're right about one thing though - the car doesn't run. Hence, my question. :)

Okay, Amtrak only goes from DC to FL... Anyone else know of any other alternatives...?

It still won't be super cheap, but you can get open carriers to move them for a lot less than enclosed. Have you already gone down this road and figured it was too expensive? PM if you need a recommendation for that. Another alternative would be to rent a u-Haul trailer but that might be more of a pita than it's worth depending on the mileage cost and gas.

I've got to get this thing from here (ATL) to NJ... I'd like to do it as cheaply as possible... Amtrak will only go as far as DC - so maybe I can Amtrak it up to DC and have it shipped the rest of the way... Either way, I'm fucked...

Yeah, but I'd figure the shipping for a short run like DC to NJ won't save you much - by that point you get into ramp truck rates which would probably put you at or over an open carrier from ATL to NJ. I'll ask my buddy what he thinks open could be done for and let you know. BTW - where in NJ and does time matter much?
