    I had one.

I was on the waiting list for two years, but my name finally got called. I paid 20% over MSRP just to be the first guy on the block with one, which was a fair deal.

It was a good machine overall, but I didn't like the required CPU out service to get the transistor belts changed.

p.s. The OEM fan was a bit loud and nasal sounding, so I installed an aftertmarket Capristo cooling solution. This was money well spent. It made the product sound as good as it looked.

Also, you must use Shell DVD recording media, otherwise your warranty will be voided. Strange.

You pay a lot for the logo. Your call if it's worth it for a non-functional styling accessory.

And the Tubi fan sounds better! :D

Per Consumer reports the Sharpe and Toshiba are the best out there...the Acer doesn't even make the top 10.

I've got a T43 and I hate it!! My school gave it to me and it is junk. The build quality is OK. My question is this, why the heck do they make the top of the laptop out of the material that they do? It gets messed up within a matter of days.

Its a good laptop for business since it is light. But battery life and screen quality are horrible.

The Acer laptop is very good. You get a lot for the money. Sure you may pay a little more (I've actually priced out other laptops with the same specs and it came out to more), but you get a lot of good things. The graphics card is awesome, the monitor is incredible, and you can't go wrong with the CF top!

I bought a new Acer two weeks ago... been looking at them for months now. I didn't buy the Ferrari Acer, as the same spec Acer laptop can be had for almost 1,000 less - just didn't make sense to me to spend the extra grand for the Ferrari kitted laptop... just my $.02

As for the comment about Acer not being close or in the top 10 - complete rubbish: http://global.acer.com/about/news.asp?id=6660

I have the current version. I bought it in Sept. 2005. It has been great, no problems, performs very well. My daughter uses it to play her high demanding computer games and it never gives her any grief. All other laptops I had would eventually freeze. I liked the Acer line up so much I bought another one (Travelmate 4010) which I called Porsche just for fun. As for pricing yes the Ferrari 4000 costs more then a similarily configured machine but not that much more. Also you get this really neat background which is from Ferrari World, its a Calandar that has various pictures of the Ferrari F1 Car during the 2005 Season. Each month a different picture is displayed. The other neat thing is when you turn on the computer the sound you hear is a Ferrari F1 racing its engine :) I don't usually buy Ferrari accessories but I made an exception on the laptop since I needed a new one and for a change I wanted something that would make my surfing and working on a computer a bit more fun. I have been working in the Computer Software field for 19 years ...

You forgot to mention the 15,000MB service, where the CPU must be removed to access the modem tensioner, necessitating a complete change of the memory sump.

When I called support for my Acer I got someone in the states.... and it used to be that as long as you bought a Dell lattitude you would get a support person in the US (I should know... I'm the student manager for my University's computer repair place... we call them on average atleast 5 a week.) but sadly that looks like that is starting to change.

I've had my Acer Travelmate 4402WLMI for a couple months so far and I find it to be a great laptop for the money. And at the ~1300 I payed for it, its been a great buy. Haven't had any hardware issues at all. The only problem I've had is that when I updated XP once, my external button for turning the wireless card on/off stopped working. Thats it.

I would expect the Ferrari one to be of the same build quality at the minimum.
