The results Kimi has gotten with the F60 are incredible considering how long ago Ferrari stopped developing this chassis. What's suspicious is how performance has been great since they stopped development (June?)- after Massa stopped driving. Makes you wonder if there's something psychological going on with him with Felipe alongside, or whether the team have been somehow favoring Felipe with setup.

I was thinking that once Massa was not driving he felt he had the entire responsibility to win on his shoulders, so he stepped up his game. Imagine how he would drive if he felt like that all season long.

I think it has definitely has something to do with Massa's injury.

    Either :

    A) He realizes his responsibility and decides to wake up and actually drive the car.

    B) He might have gotten some sort of 'notice' from the Ferrari management to step up or risk being shipped out midway of the season.

in 2008 and 2009 the team was more behind Massa because they wanted him to win a WDC.

As soon as Massa was injured, the team had no choice but to spend all their time with Kimi hence the sudden increase in performance.

Kimi saw the writing on the wall and knew if he wanted to remain in F1, he might try showing a little more effort to assist in marketing his obvious talent. I suppose that I should make that a question. Because I really think it is a combination of all of the above effects.

Raikkonen was not doing so badly before Massa´s accident. And after that, we have nobody to compare with. So it´s hard to say if there was any change in Raikkonen´s perfomance after the crash.

The Abu Dhabi race showed Kimi's passion for Ferrari, his lack of motivation was obvious. He qualified outside the top ten, one stopped which meant 26 laps on supersoft tyres, and fell back through the field even with Lewis's retirement.
He finiished ONE point behind in the WDC, and Ferrari finished ONE point behind in CC. He did a adequate job.

With all fairness, maybe the tyres was an issue. Maybe it's a fact that Ferrari have stopped developing the car for months now.

I still don't think Kimi has ever been the same since his brilliant 2008 rain duel at Spa. Once he stuffed it and Hamilton beat him, he's has borne little semblance of the driver who was so fast at McLaren and ultimately won the title.
