What's the difference? Hi-flow cats..

Without dyno and flow testing them, probably hard to know what the difference is....

 

Those are straight pipes, Hyperflows are actual cats. With HF you know you have high quality and they will fit, the others arent guaranteed.

 

You'll smell a little exhaust or unburnt fuel with those, instead of the clean feeling from the OEM cats or hyperFlow cats, but you'll get a few free hp in extra power.

Also, the chrome plating that they use will quickly spot off from heat, so that nice shiny look in the pictures won't last 250 miles of real-world driving...then they'll look like rusty brake rotors. No big deal as they aren't very visible, but all the same, a difference from Hyper-Flows.

 

HyperFlows are catalytic convertors that should pass a smog test in 49 states (aftermarket metallic cores now illegal in Cali for no good reason). The eBay item referenced is a piece of straight pipe, no catalytic material. Calling these eBay items "high flow cats" is a misnomer - they are a length of pipe, not catalytic convertors.

OEM convertors. Approved aftermarket ceramic core. Aftermarket metallic cores used to be legal for OBDI cars but that ended Jan. 1st of this year.

I emailed those 'ebay cats' sellers and they are selling just hollow cans, like test pipes.
They are very coy in their response pretending to not know the difference between 'real' catalytic converters and test pipes though.
I would question their fit however as some of these 355 test pipes seem to have the flange welded on the output pipe......(as you have to adjust slightly that flange to get a good seal).
Save your money and buy from a reputable seller.

 

For the 348 OEM are around $1,300 each. There is one CARB approved version made by Magnaflow that run about $400 each.
