can anyone enlighten me as to what are the significant differences on the following models. 308 gtbi or gtsi 308 gtb or gts 308 quattrovalve 328 gtbi orgtsi 328 gtb or gts sorry if this sounds stupid but i just am starting my search and i havent got the knowledge of the older ferraris that i do with the newer. thanks for any help.
Before you get yelled at, try out the search engine here first. Next, buy the "Original Ferrari V8" by Keith Bluemel. You can get it from Amazon and has good write ups on all the guys with pix. You also get lists of color combos, options and the tool kit lists, etc. Do a quick internet search for some of the various 308/328 registers. Go to Birdman's Ferrari website for Buying Guides and links.
Michael, get this book and it will answer most if not all the things you need to know about 308/328 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are some of the differences on the 308s. 308 gtb or gts - early carb cars 308 gtbi or gtsi - first of the fuel injected cars, down on power compared to the carb cars 308 quattrovalve - fuel injected with 4 valve heads, power back up again.
another thing to keep in mind is not all carbed cars are equal If you like Webers and a bit more hp is what you want from them, the 77 is the best option (76 is glass and more $$$). 78 and 79 were no different than the 80-82 2V inj cars - the US cars that is. getting confused yet?
If you watch out for it, you can find a good used copy on ebay for around $20. Well worth having. James in Denver
and for the 328 goes there's only gtb or gts, that I know of 1985- 1989 have the same engine the euro maybe diferent than the u.s. model
Mike is right, there are no 328 GTBi or GTSi. Some people ignorantly refer to them that way as a holdover from the 308's. The B models are hardtops, the S models are targa's. They drive very different. Dave
There is also no such thing as a 308 GTSi or GTBi QV. (all QV's and all 328's were injected. No reason to add the "i" to differentiate from a carbed verson of those models)
I would assume that he was comparing the Hp's. The wheelbase was slightly elongated when the QV's were produced between '83 and '85.
My published sources indicate 308's had the same wheelbase throughout (2340mm). 328's increased 10mm to 2350. Dave
Interestingly, my QV has GTSi on the dash panel over the fuseblocks/relays. I think this was covered on FChat before and something about "extra emblems at the factory", but I dont remember for sure. I dont have my window sticker, and I know the back says "GTS", but that GTSi on the dash makes me go hmmmmmmm...... James in Denver
