Yellow is wonderful. This shields, flags, ashtrays, are giallo for a reason as Robb pointed out.
I was in the same boat ..... not looking for yellow (Gaillo) but I found the right one at the right time/place/price. Yellow might not be for everyone, but it won't hurt resale like heavy mods, accident history, lack of documentation, etc.
The part that makes me think it doent work is when i see the yellow and red at the same time... e.g. when looking at engine manifold or red calipers on yellow car. Makes me think Ronald McDonald. Would almost perfer the accents be black in that case.
yellow... it's the color of Ferrari ( not red, as most uninformed think ) ( background on all the badges etc ) pays homage to the marque red... is the color of Italy, if your allegiance is to the country of manufacture any color that one likes, is best... since day one, paint to sample has been available, making all 16+ million colors in a pallet available a "factory color" yellow opinion... I have had several F cars in yellow, enjoyed them all, without any objections about yellow at time of sale... may have actually helped in the resale
Like when you go to an event and a red one parks next you (which is inevitable) ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pls re-read my post. I was talking about black, not red....as in me doubting that black is the next most popular colour behind red. This just proves your obsession for red, because no matter what is written in a post you only see/think/breathe red.
I was wrong: "Traditional red is still the most popular color for a Ferrari, but other colors are growing in popularity like yellow, which is the second most popular choice . ."
If you have to ask you know the answer. Don't make yourself like the car. The right one will knock your socks off. Good luck hunting bro.
Thanks great advice will try and be more patient. Been looking everyday for the right car. Hopefully pops up before winter.
Depends on the year and model. But all combined, here is the color breakdown for some years. I have read that for early 90's and earlier, red accounted for 80%... Robb Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fly Yellow (Giallo Fly) is one of the best Ferrari colors. It's my favorite on the 275GTB and the 365GTB/4.
Robb - thanks for posting the chart. I assume gray includes silver? When looking for my 612 I found more black than any other color.. I did not see any yellow 612 cars. The 612 may be just too large for the color, looks great on smaller cars IMO.
Count me in the group that doesn't want extra attention when I drive. I was sure my first Fcar would be black/gray/silver. But I've always admired certain yellow cars (driven by others) and especially always thought yellow is the most striking color on the 360/430. So when I saw a showroom-condition 360 Spider I had to buy it. Go for it! (Red is literally the last color I would buy...wouldn't even consider it)
Yellow just doesn't work for me, my personality, lifestyle, etc. Pity, I had a chance to buy a slightly scruffy but bargain priced gated 360 spider in November, but couldn't bring myself to do it because of the color. In hindsight I regret my reluctance. Black is the only color I like less. In fairness, it looks better on some cars than others....wouldn't hesitate to buy a giallo Gallardo for example.
The general rule? If Dino, then yes. Otherwise no. OK, maybe that's just my rule . I used to like yellow a lot on Ferrari's. Over time, though, I've grown to like it less, but I still think it fits the Dino well for some reason. All this said, it is good to have something non-red -- particularly at Ferrari shows where it is often a "sea of red" and the less common colored cars really stand out (in a good way). If you like yellow, buy it and enjoy it. I sought out a Prugna Ferrari that, at the time (early 2000's), was an often maligned color by most Ferrari enthusiasts. I loved the color and the car, so what other people thought didn't matter to me. Prugna seems to have become a well-liked color these days, so what is "popular" can be cyclical. Ignore everyone else, buy what you like, and don't give it a second thought after that.
