202 in an F40........w/my Newfoundland riding shotgun!! :)
When Henry Tran let me drive his F355 back from Sacramento I kept it at a cool 85. The other one I drove was an '87 328 GTS - 120+ Smoth ride at that speed too. I thought I was only around 85 'til I looked @ the Speedometer.
The Autobahn run from Garmisch to Munich is a good one. Very little traffic, good road. Another good one is the Autobahn run north from Fuessen. Best part: No traffic laws being violated.
128 in my SE-R. 143 as a passenger in a 360 Spyder on the Devil's Backbone between Austin and San Antonio. It was marvelous.
Only saw a couple of entries in the "vintage" category. 1972 365GTC4 (Euro Spec) After a complete (and very costly) suspension rebuild, valve adjustment and tune up: 240 KPH (close to 150 mph) indicated speed. Car still pulling like a train. Can´t recall the RPM as I was too busy watching for cops. I ran out of nerve as my tires are a bit elderly. Think the car would do over 160 mph with new tires and the right road. Where´s the rest of the vintage crowd? 150 MPH - 1977 308 GTB (again, indicated speed). 145 MPH - 1975 308 GT4 120 MPH - 1964 330 GT 2+2 (scared the sh*t outta me)

A lot of these speeds don't seem so great for a Ferrari. 150mph??? Not that spectacular. A friend of mine had a 57 Chevy powered by a 350 engine. It had 1958 Corvette cylinder heads with 11.5 to 1 pistons and a Holley carb. High lift cam. Just your basic 70s vintage hot rod. One of his friends was a local cop. One day they crossed paths when my friend was cruising outside of town. My friend pulls over and starts talking to his cop buddy. Cop asks how fast it will go. Friend says he doesn't really know. Cop pulls out his radar gun, looks down the deserted highway and says "Let's find out!" So my friend drives down the road a mile or so, turns around and gives it the gas for a full throttle pass by the cop with his radar gun. 147MPH on radar. All from a 57 Chevy hot rod. My friend mentioned that his hands were both FIRMLY on the steering wheel and the whole car felt like it could go haywire any second.
7000 rpm in 5th at the end of the front straight of the Dubai Autodrome in the 550M, whatever speed that works out to. I was a little too busy to be watching the speedo More impressive to me was the pull I made in my 1988 GTI 16V not long after I got it in 2001: 6600 rpm in 5th which works out to 132 mph on the gearing chart. Not bad for a 1.8l 4 banger in a brick (Cd 0.36)
And that's the difference. 150 mph in a Ferrari is a relaxing cruising speed. There's not enough money in the world to get me to take a '57 Chev to 150, that's begging to die.
...over 300 km/h (close to 200mph) in a 456GT on the Autobahn... the car was still amazingly smooth to drive at that speed. Intersting was to see that the engine hood starts to bulge up at high speeds...due to the airflow the hood-edge that sits in front of the windshield gets sucked up into an arch-shape quite noticeable!
160 mph french autoroute wife asleep 348ts wonderful car attracts so much attention everywhere and is good for long distances did 2000 miles in 5 days last year going to see the new bridge in the south( before top gear did it)
It was a fantastic, unforgettable afternoon, thanks to Marcello at LoBC and Ferretti for organizing it.
