110 in my 330 2+2 was scary as well, but with recent exchange to the correct size Borrani wheels and rebalancing, etc., I'd feel much more confident in trying for max top end...insurance doesn't cover track use though.

At 110 it had plenty left to go...engine is just well broken in and if the factory claimed a top speed of 150, I don't see any reason that it couldn't get there.

125 mph in my 328 GTS 2 weeks ago, tack was reading about 6,200 rpm's so I still had plenty more to go. Was following a mercury sable on the interstate for about 45 minutes. Don't have a radar detector yet, so I usually don't go that fast by myself.

Not that quick in an Fcar really as I've never been in a situation (in the passenger seat) where the driver could go for it!

Did 176mph in a 996 Turbo and 170mph in a modified 993 Turbo on a closed speed test day!
Also 150mph in a Ginetta (how many people have ever been in one of those!!) on a not so closed motorway somewhere in the UK (during rush hour :D)
With me driving the highest would be 116mph (185kmh) in a rental Hyundai in Melbourne!!

Depends on road conditions and behaviour of other drivers.

My way to work consists of 40 mls autobahn, most of it w/o speed limit and low traffic. Going top speed (which is just 155 mph in a t ..) feels very safe even with top down.

    Not in a car.

    But I was riding 220 km/h on the back of a Suzuki through a 50 km/h zone.

I know we were going fast, but not that it was that fast!

When I was 18 we took my buddy's '68 Chevelle SS 396 (only the 396/325, but it had an upgraded intake manifold, 850 cfm Holley, MSD ignition, and bigger headers with essentially hollow mufflers) on some trips to the local hotrodder's hangout and succumbed to the temptation to do a little friendly street racing. We lined up in two rows, three abreast on an empty, straight eight lane exurban road. Our car had its 4:11 posi switched out for a 2:90 non-posi rear. The car ran 12's with the 4:11 posi, but, naturally, the top end was much higher with that tall rear gear. The speedometer wasn't calibrated properly, so it always indicated about 80% of the actual speed. After a substantial distance at wide open throttle, we had the needle buried, and were walking away from a modified early 90's Mustang that was our only serious competitor. The speed was getting scary and there was a busy intersection a quarter mile or so ahead of us, so my buddy eased on the brakes. All was well untill the four wheel drums faded to nothing while we were still going 35mph (indicated). I screamed at him to stop, but the pedal was on the mat. This car's horn did not work, and the "shoulder harness" belts were fixed to the roof with office paper binder clips. We had no choice but to pull a hard, oversteering right turn into traffic at the red light. When the brakes were cool enough to stop us, we pulled over and asked the guy in the Mustang how fast he was going. He said he thought he was doing 135mph, so I'll say we were going 140mph. I have never raced on the street since.

I owned a street bike (my only street bike) when I was a young man. I got into a low speed wobble at 110MPH (no helmet, no boots, no leathers). I remember thinking to myself that if I were somehow able to get out of it, that I would never go triple digits on a motorcycle ever again. That was in 1983. I kept my promise.
About a year after I bought my NSX (when it was still stock) I passed a cop going almost 160MPH (at night no less). He wrote on the ticket: "Subject blew by me so fast the wind pushed my car over." DOHH!!! He gave me a lecture on how I could have really hurt somebody if I had lost control of the car, somebody had pulled in front of me, etc. and it made me feel very guilty. That was in 1998. Ever since then, when I get into triple digits, I remember that and back off.
    :)

When I was doing the 220 on the back of the bike I wasn't wearing any protective gear either. Just denims, normal shoes and a thin jacket.
    I did wear a helmet though.:p

This the photo of the dash when he was driving. He has another photo of 170 mph but it is very blurry. This was on interstate 75 in Michigan.

You will see that he is in 6th gear at 158mph and on the sport setting of a 355 spider.

The amazing thing isn't taking the photo but that he is parapalegic.

    He is an amazing guy.

I hope you enjoy the photo

Stuff like that pisses me off... I used to give a lot of people a lot of rides when I was younger and had bikes. *NEVER* did i mess around or drive fast like that with a passenger. Passenger, to me, dictates a different set of rules when riding. I get so pissed when I see kids flying by me, weaving in and out, shoulder riding, easily doing over 100MPH with girls on the back in the summer. I was always of the opinion that its one thing for me to kill myself, but never would I jeopardize a passenger's life.

145 In My C6 Vert With Top Down!

The former two I remember thinking stuff in my head like man what if I got a blow out? Or on the bike what if the chain broke?

The speed run in my C6 did not invoke those thoughts. Even with the top down.

Oh the other day 125 in a Porsche TurboS Cab on a test drive down the 105 car pool lane. The sales guy told me to see what it can do!! LOL When you hop on the 105 Carpool lane off Firestone Blvd. there is a run on for about a 1/2 mile before it joins the other part of the freeway. I had let off before I got to there. He said I am glad you drive it like it should be driven. Sometimes I have to have the people move back to the passenger seat so I can show them what it can do! LOL BTW it was broken in at 5000 miles. I would not have done it to a brand new car.

I didn't ask for him to drive that fast, but there was nothing I could do. I was certainly not going to jump off :D

It was only over a stretch of like 1km and he slowed down when it was populated again.

But I never rode with him again. This was too scary.

I have another friend who LOVE big bikes, but he said he would never buy one because he would kill himself.
And he has kept that "promise".

The guy I was driving with also don't ride bikes anymore. he had a scary incident that was not his fault at all, but it apparently scared him enough.
