I hit 184mph in the 360 Spider and I couldn't get my old Corvette any higher than 165mph.
110 in T with top down: Not recommended...it's a 17 year old car and no one should push age over performance. 135 in 456 GT: 12 years old But always try to do a few sprints on open HW where it's more safe and one can see both ways for at least a couple miles: HW 37 north bay area is my pick, and OH, yes...all my cars [four of them] have Escort radars...know every safeway or auto door in north bay
I did 156 mph in a 2000 Audi A6 rental car in Germany between Wiesbaden and Landstuhl. I believe that is limit with which the cars come from the factory. A nice open downhill section got me there and it just stopped going any faster once I hit that mark.
I feel like a light weight- 95 in a Maserati gransport spyder (me driving), 110 as a passenger in a 612
'85 Mondial QV Cab- over the many years of ownership 130mph. I've wondered if this is true max speed for this model? '02 360 Modena- glanced down at 150mph, looked up, kept driving.. 150+? Much more left, rock solid..finest car I've owned (so far).
I've done 200mph+, unaided... jumping out of a plane ... Now don't show off and tell me you've done 300+ (world record is about 350). But... if you have... is it really totally silent at that speed (cone of silence?) This always cracks me up (describing why you have to slow down to 120mph before deploying the chute): "To open a parachute at the higher speeds could easily cause sturctural failure of both the parachute, and the human body. "
Well, the earth's radius at the equator is 6378.388 Km. The polar radius is 6356.912 Km. Taking that as an ellipse with eccentricity 0.081992, then at latitude 38.81 degrees north, the radial distance from the rotation axis is 4963.63 Km, for a circumference of 31187.399 Km covered in a sidereal day of 23.9344696 hours at a surface velocity of 1301.03. So the 328 is currently moving 1301 kph (about 810 mph) eastward as it sits in the garage. Cars parked nearer the equator would be faster. But that doesn't take into account the speed of Earth around the Sun (highest at perihelion). Or the Sun around the center of the galaxy. Or the "Milky Way" galaxy expanding from the center of the Big Bang. And then there's all that "dark energy". ... Why yes, I am a nerd. Why do you ask? But I guess people around here figure that, if they can do over 800 mph while sleeping in their beds, why bother to wake up for a mere 45 mph on the roads.

hahaha. When I drove my old corvette back and forth from vegas to san diego I have had cruise control on 115 buzzing down the left lane for almost a half hour straight.
Wouldn't you say that the straight road sections end rather quickly at this rate? If there is a two mile straight remaining once you are up to speed. In less than thirty seconds, it is time to slow down for the curve. I found comfort in taking unknown rural interstate curves at 125. Of course, it is not nice to find a surprise.
My major concern was downforce on the straight TBH. The car was sucked so far down the slightest bump in the surface caused grounding. The person following me said my under trays were virtually rubbing. Certainly driving at that speed requires you to be looking a long, long, way in the distance..
I suppose I am getting old (30) but when I hit high speeds I am starting to get nervous.. I've gotten above 160 a few times (some times close to 200) and when I think back to it I stress out just thinking about it. I had a viper and anything above 120 terrified me since it was unstable. My esprit is very stable at high speeds but we dont have enough decent roads around here to really test it out.. I'll get up to 140-150 the car is still blasting away but I have to start slowing down.. we need some decent roads honestly near philly...
I did 145 in my 328 GTS. Now that I have a 355 F1 spider, I have done 150 a few times but in all cases, have ran out of open road. BTW the 355 felt solid at that speed compared to the 328. Theo
