Well, it won't be my first by any means. I am in the middle of a 24 hour exam. Yes, 24 hours. And I am using every minute of those hours. So, the question is, what's the best way to do this while minimizing the after-effects. Keep in mind that I have a great deal of work to do after this is over, and that I will be doing this twice more before December 20th. No, I will not take aderol or anything similar. Yes, I am willing to drink soda. Just wondering if you have any secrets to doing this without getting a really gurgly stomach by morning, which seems to happen, and basically feeling like absolute crap. Cheers :-/
Zach... i have so much trouble with it these days, whereas, when i was younger, i could stay up for 48 hours at a time... Not sure why, must be old age... Drink soda, eat anything with caffiene and sugar and splash cold water on your face when you feel like you're getting drowsy... Music might help... Don't stop whatever you're doing... Keep working... Stopping will do you in... Good luck, dude...
I prefer the drink ROCKSTAR when I have to make long overnight drives. It's basically a 32oz Red Bull. Definitely no music - anything with familiar patterns or lyrics will distract. Man, I thought 8 hr exams were tough! Good luck, we're cheering for you.
"No-doz"-got me through college. I used to learn an entire semester's work the night before the exam.
A 24 hour exam or a 67,000 calorie drink with enough stimulants to kill a small horse? The exam sounds brutal... "Don't work on it all night" they'll say, knowing that >30% of the class will. 8hr take-homes are ok, but I was surprised to see how much I could write (I think I wrote over 20 pages). I'm going to have my first 3 hour exam on the 20th, I'm excited to handle a smaller exam and just rack my brain for 180 minutes and not 480.
every couple of hours talk a quick walk outside to get some fresh air into you. Keep the fluids goin so u have to pee more and that will keep you awake
I feel as if I am qualified on this topic because I literally just spent 26 hours at the library (10am this past tuesday until noon on wednesday) writing a 48 page term paper due on Botulinum Toxin type A (Botox) treatments on spastic muscles for Cerebral Palsy patients...that was a doozy. Anyways, the key is to get up and stretch every 3 hours or so. it is pretty easy to keep focus for that long, but after that your mind will start to wander. you need to get up, walk around, splash some water on your face and rest for like 20 minutes...then get back to it. also, try to keep your stomach empty and drink some coke. that works wonders...but if you do eat, keep it light...maybe get some granola bars or protein bars for that energy. turn off your AIM and stay off of fchat. youll find you are the most productive between 2am and 7am because everyone is asleep and can't bother you . good luck!
speed baby speed....use it at your own risk. i can not condone the action of taking trucker cocaine. personally i like red bull.
Some of the sorostitutes upstairs take coke and stay up for the weekend to party... I wouldn't go that direction, nor recommend it to anyone EVER, but its an option..
Straight water. Forget the sugar and caffeine - that **** won't keep you going the way you think. --Dan
Mountain Dew, sugar packets, and Ripped Fuel keep the sleep away for me. Just pop in a sugar packet and it will dissolve over time, giving you a constant energy boost (until it wears out).
Truly the best advice here. Products that are high in caffeine are known to decrease the brains ability to store and process information. Some studies suggest that this chemical actually decreases short term memory, exactly where youll be pulling alot of the information for your exam. It also causes vasocontristiction in the brain which reduces the amount of oxygen that gets there. Stay away from the caffeine, drink a ton of water and run around the house a few times if you feel like falling asleep. Good Luck.
