okay so please explain why hybrids are suppost to be more fuel effecient. I understand that having the electric motor will help, but only city drving. Otherwise on the highway its uses the internal combustion motor. Personally, the only advantage it has is on the cutting the emissions down . Otherwise I think having a small 4 cylinder motor will be just as good or maybe even better. Weren't the old Geo Metro getting something like 40-45 mpg? Best solution is make the cars smaller and lighter.

Living on the west side we're inundated with the Prius's and othe dual mode hybrids. I have to laugh at what was the point of their buying it, then diving like an idiot, jack rabbit starts, swerving in and out of lanes.... 50-60 MPH in a 35 zone! Once you accelerate hard, the gas and electric motors both operate to increase the acceleration! I just pull away from the light and don't really have to give it any gas, just let the torque of the idle pull me around. I've got over 600 HP and still pull down 22-25 MPG around town during the week. Right at 30 MPG on highway cruising... Despite their four cylinders, with their driving techniques, they're probrobly still in the low to mid twenties... WTF?

I remember hearing the 3-cylinder versions getting upwards of 60mpg or 70mpg.

    I love the pic!

I think they had an ad back in the day saying that you could drive coast to coast on $20 in gas.
