    Those are wheel hangers to aid in hanging a wheel while installing a wheel bolt. Pain in the neck wrestling a heavy wheel and tire while trying to insert a bolt. Many of those are missing and Hill Engineering and other suppliers' (Sticky Rx for one) wheel mounting bolts work even better.

    I removed the original locating pegs. I use two aluminium locating dowels that are available on eBay for a low price.

    Also to hold the rotors on when the wheels are off the car, so when you put them back on, they seat properly. Especially needed when calipers are also off. You don’t want one of these falling off!

    You need to remove them for most aftermarket wheels.

    I removed mine so that my aftermarket wheels could seat properly to the hub.

    Third chime in... could not mount my aftermarket wheels with them installed. Removed them and purchased a set of "positioning pins" from a seller here. Worked out great.
