OK, so they were all racing about them on SPEED and FOX this weekend, but I haven't seen any discussion here. Did they provide a noticeable handling advantage? Will others follow suit?

...those were on the rears only at first...and IIRC they help on extracting hot air from the brakes...and keeping the dust away from the radiators and such, I havent heard anything from "overall airflow" in the sense of helping the aero flow around the car

...IF it helps cooling the brakes...you´ll need smaller air ducts for the discs, reducing drag, and that is a good thing.

they should be pretty efficient to risk a slower pitstop with the big frezzbe on...

Did you notice how easy can you get tangled with the thing while changing the tire?

If Ferrari was leading - they'd be declared as Movable Aerodynamic device (reference mass-damper)

You are right!...This have been used since last year, but only on the rear wheels, back then, Renault filed an official complaint about those diffusers, but after the FIA studied the rules and the devices, Ferrari was cleared to use them freely.

NICE CAR - better than F1. Real racing. Who was Hurley Haywood's co-driver in it?

    Carol

...I remember those too, but given the external body work they seem to make more sense than in open wheel racing...flow wise I mean.

Go to F1.com (scroll down to technical analysis) and then go to "Ferrari rim shields" for the complete breakdown!
