How do we define 'worst' ?

Ugliest ? 400 and 456 are least attractive to my eyes but far from ugly.

Most mechanical issues ? 355 ? TR ? Im no expert there...

Least popular ? 400, 456 and 612 seem to be in the running with 348 trailing in fourth place.

Every car is going to have its share of fans that dont want to see it on the Worst list.

With the money I saved by buying an injected 308, I bought Hyper-Flow cats and better exhaust system, which boosts the performance back up into the range of the carbureted cars.

Any 308 is slower by today's standards, but 308s remain an icon of Ferrari, and one of the most beautiful cars of all time. Anyone considering a 308 shouldn't discount the injected 2-valve cars out of hand; there are some easy and relatively inexpensive performance upgrades available, and the reliability is quite good for a late 70s/early 80s performance car.

Are you referring to the used car market? Because, "The Mondial was produced in fairly high numbers for a Ferrari, with more than 6,800 produced in its 13-year run, and was one of Ferrari's most commercially successful models."

I cant define what is worst as what is ugliest. Ugly/pretty is all just a matter of opinion. Go look at the Ferrari California section for heated debates on that one.

While Im picking on the lowly 308i from 1980-1982...I would vote the 1985 308 GTB QV - Euro version with deep spoiler as one of top 10 modern Ferraris ever..

A 1985 308QV which barely outperforms the "awful" 308i and which has a deep spoiler which is 99% aesthetic miraculously bridges the gap between being "the worst" to being one of the top 10 modern Ferraris?? LOL! Ooookay if you say so! Again, I'm just disagreeing with you so there's no need to go squeal to the mods. ;)

I suppose some of you who have owned Ferrari's for a long time and have owned many types have these jaded opinions of certain models. I just bought a 348 SS about two months ago and love it.

I agree fully with the "Worst" term being a joke. Do you know how many people dream of owning these cars and would give thier left nut to own ANY Ferrari regardless of model? I guess what I am saying is, this answer is all in the eyes of the beholder, and so far, I have yet to have one person on the street or in front of the Del Hotel in Coronado come up to me and say, "Hey, isn't that the Ferrari that Luca said was the worst car Ferrari ever made?"

The only thing I get is complements, questions, and the rare question of "am I going to grow a mustache, Magnum" comments, which actually make me smile anyway, because most of them mean it in a good way and just want to say SOMETHING to the guy with the Ferrari. People love these cars, and so do we or we wouldn't be on this chat site.

Get out, drive them, and hey, as we often said when we were at the bars at Ohio State, "even fat chicks need lovin'", so love what you got baby!

what is a bad car ? i would give ANY Ferrari a home in my garage. i own a 348 Spider for 8 years and i still love the car. it has everything, i expected - looks, sound and performance. maybe the handling at high speed is difficult, but the car was very reliable over the whole period.
i drove some other Ferrari and i would prefer the 348 over the 208-308GT4, the Mondial, 365/400/412 2+2 and so many others.
for me the 348 - esp. the Spider is a great car, that will never be sold by me.

I've had my 348 for over 3 years now and I still don't understand where the 348 bashing comes from.

Sure, the electrics aren't up to Honda/BMW standards, but then it's a 14+ year old Italian made automobile. Did the earlier Ferrari's have better electrics?

Then there's the criticism of the handling. Earlier ones may have had problems, but these were resolved by subsequent updates by the factory. The handling can't be that bad as the 348 wins the Ferrari Hill Climbing Championship on a regular basis in the UK.

    I've only ever driven two Ferrari's. My 348GTB and a 360 modena which I considered buying. I didn't like the 360 much.

I had no bad experience with my ex348 so far. Dont understand why it is called "worst" Ferrari. Be fair and think about the year this car had been made, it could be a good sportcar in that era, if not the best.

Everyone realise that "the newer, the better".

    Peace,

No, but IMHO (and in the market's opinion) it's definetely one of the less good ones. Do you really think those strakes look cool????

Least good Ferraris: 348, Testarossa, Mondial 8, 308GTBi.

Angelis, the 348 was slated by the press back in the day for being too soft and pandering too much to the new money poseur rather than the true driving enthusiast. When stories of teething gremlins came in later, it was slated again.

I think this reputation has grown with time, unfairly IMO.

What he said. Sy's car always looks good.

Back on topic, I think we're all (over)reacting to some journalist's off-the-cuff sidebar. Pick whatever Ferrari you think is the worst, and park it in a row of boring modern BMWs or whatever, and somehow that "worst" Ferrari ends up being the one you really want to take for a drive.

Has anyone said the 208 yet?

My vote is for the 2-liter GT4.

But I firmly agree with the least best mindset. :)

Here's a question - if you the the 348 was so average why would you buy a 2nd one?
