Guys, can somebody help me out with what this wee beastie is worth (or what you'd pay for it if you were off to buy it).

Any key things to look for with such low mileage cars?

    Thanks,

    Jamie.

No idea about the 3K service. I need to check all that out when I go and see it. Should be interesting as I'm pretty sure teh guys wont have given it 8 services.

WHats your point about the low miles?
    Thanks.

Car sounds like a garage queen. V low mileage can = big probs if it's just sat around not moving. If service history checks out, no prob.

Should be serviced every year and the cambelts changed every 3 years

Seems a good price for year and mileage, always worth getting it checked by a specialist though

    regards

Unless it was done very recently you would have to have the engine out and cam belt change.

Cars sat for long periods without use suffer from all sorts of problems associated with having no oil and fluids circulating around the engine. Seals dry out, crack, shrink and can fail once pressure is put on the system again.

The belts will need doing as they can kink at the points where they are sat in the same position round the pullies for long periods of time.

Even the tyres can get flat spots.

Something odd about this ad- why point out that it has colour coded bumpers and mirrors, alloys and a sport interior. Maybe nothing.

I'd like to see a car serviced annually, regardless of mileage.

Nice to see you on here again :)

I've seen this before where a car is at a Dealer that may not normally deal in Ferraris or their software has a 'tick the box' spec system

Good information burriana500. Can an expert check out all these types of things or are they all hidden away? THe tyres are straight forward but the rest sound like a risk?

1 Check the service book. More stamps the better etc
2 Get it checked out by another party
3 If it's from a dealer, make sure you have a good (at least a year) Warranty

These cars do get better with useage. Good luck. I think the price is not too bad, but always room for some movement.

If there were 5 or 6 stamps in the maintainence book (including a recent belt service), then it is a very good price indeed. However, if its not been maintained properly........ its your risk... servicing could be anything from 3-4K++ before Id want to risk driving it (you dont want a belt to go = 25K bill all of a sudden!!)

For your comparision, my 355 Spider (same spec and year) is currently for sale - opposite end of spectrum.. its got 35K miles on the clock, but comes with a HUGE stack of servicing/repair bills. Im looking for offers over the commisson sales Ive been offered at 50K.

    Good luck with your purchase
    Ade

And THAT, in theory should be a trouble free car - well used - well serviced.

Dried out seals and cam belt stiff spots can only be done and checked with the engine out. Hence, if it has not had the big service/belt change for a while (with that mileage maybe never!) you MUST allow for getting this done before you even think about using it.

If it has had it's regular yearly services though and the last one was not too long ago, then it should (again, in theory) be ok.

Just do as you are doing now, get all the info and go in with your eyes wide open and you may indeed have found a good deal. Just don't let the seller convince you that ultra low mileage is worth a massive premium, because as you can see, it isn't necessarily the case.

    :)

That car is in Scotland and I enquired about it 2 months ago. The guy that owns it is a garage and has not register it in his name. He told me he bought it last year and had been offered £60000, by dealers but was asking either 64 or 65 at the time, but would take £62000 rock bottom. Cannot understand why he has now reduced it to below what the trade offered him!

But it may be worth a viewing

    Let me know what happens

    Regards

    Darren

Yeh, it's 14 miles away from where I live. It's been for sale for 3 months. Started off at 63995 then went to 62995 and now to 59995. I'll share any onfo i get on it once I've been to see it.
    Cheers!

355's still at £60k !!!!! That means 360 prices simply cannot drop to what some of the doom mongers have been predicting. If they do, you'll be paying nearly as much for a 355 as you would a 360, and to me thats DAFT !

Can have my 360 for £73k

If I was after a 355 Spider I would without hesitation buy Ade's. That car has had EVERYTHING put right on it, and must be one of the most sorted 355 Spiders out there at this moment in time.

Stimmers, surely it depends on the car? A very low miles vert late reg'd 355 would be worth more than an early high (for Ferrari) milage 360, surely? Also, isnt there an argument that 355's were relatively rare compared to 360's so stand to hold their value much better.

I'm off to hide in the corner before I get a cyber-space slappin'.

    996

Check out the prices of early 996's and late 993's.....

355 are not exactly rare !!!

I wouldnt buy a 348 for 355 money (or close) and i wouldnt buy a 355 for 360 money(or close). There are obvious exceptions, with hugh mileage , involved in crashes etc.

Im suprised that 355's of any sort are still going for £60k or over, very suprised, I thought the very very good ones were £55k tops !

I was talking about 355 and 360 prices . I dont know the Porsche market as i have never contemplated buying one !

What do Porsche prices have to do with 355 vs 360 residuals ?

That is unfortunately why I don't think I' ll ever be able to move on from mine (355B). I seriously stuffed it in 96, £22k repair bill, absolutely fine to own now but I doubt anyone would want it...
