This car has been for sale forever (at least a year). Seems like a highly optioned car with no accidents per Carfax (but it does have 4 owners), only 4k miles and the asking price is lower than most 16Ms. Anybody have any dirt on it? Although everyone raves about the 16M, those on the market sure seem to sit for quite awhile. As a potential 16M buyer, am I missing something? Is market price unreasonable?

I don't have any dirt, but my reasons for not considering this car is that I want the 16M stripe and I want one that has not been modified at all. This one has an aftermarket radio and radar detector. I know the radio etc. could be reversed, but I have a nice F430 to drive while I search for MY perfect spec, and 16M prices remain flat so I'm in no hurry. ( although the F430 ticks downward )

Other than that IMHO this example has the right wheels and the carbon rockers which I think are highly desirable.

+1 on the 16M stripe. I prefer it over the Scud stripe that this one has. Still looks good though.

The radio... at least the head unit looks stock. Did I just miss something in the photos? (using my iphone to check it out)

Stereo looks stock, iPod option in dash was available although I'm not sure how desirable it is having spoken to owners with the option - this unit also accepts an iPod link. This car looks to have lots of smoked glass - lenses/side repeaters etc - Novitec?
Market for 16M's depends where you are, UK prices are now at £200k+ for the best cars which is a £30k rise over 18 months.

The photo shows the Becker radio but the text says it has a JBL in-dash CD. I forgot about the blacked out lenses; Also not right for me. At one time I thought I would swap them with my car if I bought this one.

I looked at my spreadsheet and I when I started tracking this car about a year ago the asking price was $251995. I expect US prices to rise, but I'm less worried about timing the market than I am about finding MY perfect spec.

I think it's the dealers rep that has caused the car to sit longer than most 16M's. I went to school in Houston and most guys in the market for these cars talk with one another and are savvy enough to use extreme caution when choosing dealers. I will say that I've had no personal experience with the thank god! Best of luck with your search...

Thanks for the input. All valid points - I guess I missed the stereo upgrade. I'm a sucker for white and love the wheels and carbon rockers, so I've always liked this one. Now that I'm a little closer to pulling the trigger, I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Even though there are 499 of these out there, Fchat seems to be a pretty good community with which at least someone knows about any given car's history.

Black is a commitment, not a death knell. You may enjoy the routine of keeping it nice as it can be a nice way to stay "active" with your car when you aren't driving it...and save a few thousand on purchase since there are fewer people who enjoy the black car regimen.
