I seem to be having a bit of a language barrier with CC. I have now spoken to just about everyone there and no one seems to know what a leak-down test is.... what gives? These guys are supposed to be top notch but now I have my doubts...Can anyone give me a hand with this?

Ben did you speak to Rocco or Jim? Carlos Borguese – maybe, he has just joined CC. He is very good when it comes to racing, having won Macua GP and was European touring champion. They are the best in the business. You really shouldn’t have any problem with a simple matter such as PPI.

Rocco is on vacation, no one seems to know who Jim is. I spoke to Carlos and there was a bit of a language barrier and Anthony who didn't know what a leak down test was.. claimed he had never heard of any such thing...

In simple terms, a compression test measures the instantaneous maximum pressure achieved in each cylinder during the compression stroke. A leak down test measures how well each cylinder holds that pressure over time. While a given cylinder may achieve an otherwise good compression number, the leak down test shows if substantial amounts of gases are getting by the rings, which can be a sign of wear. I'm sure one of the more techie guys can give a more detailed explanation.

Classic does PPI's / leakdowns all day long, and are superb on the mechanical side. Jim's the right person in Rocco's absence, and should be able to help you right away.

    Best.
