    all 997s look similar (I think that's where the seams are for the airbag to deploy), but not as pronounced.

    maybe just black panel on a convertible = the sun baked it a bit more than usual?

    I agree it does look strange. The car never left the factory looking like that. Could be sun/heat damage.

    Mine shows but not to that extent. It is the separation seam for the airbag deployment.
