Thrilled to find a dusty top shelf bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year at a local pub. It had been there for four years and was only 1/3 empty. Nobody seemed to know it was there or what it was. The cost per shot was also 'normal'.

The bottle has sadly been finished by me. It only survived another 2 weeks after I discovered it :)

What was even more amazing is around these parts all we seem to get is Jim beam, Makers Mark and Buffalo trace and thats about it in most every bar / pub you visit.

Have a $10 off $50 coupon from BevMo, picking up a
1.5 liter Buffalo Trace for $52 minus $10 off tomorrow.

Buffalo Trace, best bang for the buck for my palate...

Similar thing happened to me. I met a few friends at a small dive bar that had a 1/3 drunk bottle of 10 year Pappy tucked back behind 3-4 other random bottles. Bar tender had no idea what it was and charged us $10/shot until we finished off the bottle.

For office use I prefer Booker's. I have been on the Booker's bandwagon since getting my first bottle in 1990. In 1994 I visited with Booker Noe and had he was a blast to be around. He even invited my wife at that time and myself to his home for dinner. Nothing better than sitting on the front porch with a good 127 proof single barrel swapping stories with the man who made said bourbon.

For special stress relief I have been using Four Roses 2014 single barrel limited edition and for those really stressful days I like A.H. Hirsch 16 year old reserve. PVW 23 year old is also good. But so limited in Alabama not something you want to share with anyone.. I have 6 bottles saved up for when my son finally gets married. But he is 27 and not in any hurry. He loves the single life and like his dad fast cars. ;)

I've got a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20 year old (bottled 2013) listed in the classifieds if anyone is still looking for one.

I don't really care for any of the Pappy with the exception of the 23yo. The 23 really is magical, and worth the price. The younger Pappy just doesn't do it for me.

I LOVE the 15 year. It's totally different than any of the others.

My bottle of 15 year old is looking for a new home for the holidays!

And my mistake... I have a 20 year old open, not a 23. Still tasty.

Eagle Rare is some of the best Bourbon I've had and it's only 26 a bottle...when you can get your hands on it.

I'm a drinker, not a collector, so I'm not a buyer at the inflated second hand prices. I would pay some premium, but not the crazy auction prices.

Really good choice. It's been awhile but as I recall really nice bite with a lingering aftertaste. Lots of higher end WT's out there now. I need to try some.

It's great stuff for the price, IMO. Some store around here have started to jack up the price. I've seen it as high as $90. Bigger stores sell at $30-$35.

I got it at the local store. It doesn't last long, maybe 3-4 days.

I haven't been able to find ANY Weller near me. There's one store I need to check, but they know their spirits and know the market trends. If they have any, I suspect it'll be priced higher than I am willing to pay.
