I am waiting for F12 and it is nearly 1 year away. I am selling the aventador and only car in garage is 458 spyder. Now, I have been offered very aggrasive discount on new FF and I am almost taking it. Since it is my second FF, I know what I am getting. Having F12 and spyder makes no sense. F12(sports car) and FF(GT) together, maybe. FF and spyder, I think spyder will get less time driven. F12 and some porsche, possible but I might have hard time selling FF. Should I part away spyder and get really CHEAP FF? FF for me is that good....better than spyder in some way and this is troubleing me.
If it were me I would just wait for the F12. Even if you get the FF for cheap, as you said it will be difficult to sell later and you will probably lose a lot in depreciation. There is a reason they are trying to push the car with an aggressive discount!
Problem with FF is that wider audience is not aware of FF practical qualities, and most important for any expensive/supercar value is appreciation of wide audience. If you end up with FF & F12 in garage you could have some practicality issues. F12 is perfect two-seater with great boot so you could end up driving it more often than you think. After few months you could ask yourself - what is FF doing in my garage? And than you will bring yourself in "FF value" situation. On the other side if you like to travel with more people 4WD FF is nice choice, but than having F12 is questionable.
Keep your Spyder till you F12 comes. Drive the F12 for awhile and see if you like it better than the Spyder. Selling either will be easy with out much cost. I traded my F430 for a 599 a couple of years ago and decided I really like the F430 better. I have had it happen several times where I don't like the new one as well as the old one. Even if you get the FF cheap the depreciation hit will water your eyes and would buy you a new Porsche. Sometimes a Porsche is better than a Ferrari when you don't want the attention a Ferrari brings. I own a 991 and I sometimes prefer it to my 458. Everybody needs a beater. LOL.
I've owned four Porsches (3 928's and a Cayene Turbo) and a Porsche is NEVER better than a Ferrari except when in the repair shop. Rick
I personally would buy the FF and F12. I own the FF as a daily driver and just tried the F12. What I have realised that despite being quite close conceptually (V12 front engined GT's) I would never swap them since I do a lot of long runs in my FF and I need that practicality it suggests (big boot, four seats) but most importantly F12 never feels relaxed. It feels happy only when you push it. Which is absolutely fine for a weekend/good-weather/whenever-you-feel-like-it car but by no means makes it a substitute for the FF which is effectively perfect everyday car if you don't mind crap satnav and attention it attracts. F12 vs 458 Spider? No brainer for me. 458 Spider is V8, quite heavy for its class and really is a part of a very crowded marketplace. The F12 is unique in a sense that it has front engined V12 Ferrari charisma, drives like real supercar and really there is nothing like it at the moment with 740hp (just One-77 which is a bit of a joke for the money they want for it). Its grunt from 60mph to you get seriously scared, 458 simply can't match. Unless you are huge fan of open-air motoring, I guess the F12 and the FF is the way to go. Roman
True that about repair shop I would prefer Porsche to Ferrari if I were considering a weekend/track car, I would probably go for 991 GT3 or wait for GT2/GT3RS. I have never driven Scud though. But they are nowhere as usable as a the F12.
Thanks for comments. Roman that is my thoughts. FF and F12. I still have to try highway run in F12 but I suspect it will have high speed stability like FF. FF is faster yet feels safer than Lp640. Only down side is the brake performance. F12 might be fastr than aventador but i dont think it will feel safer. When I tried it felt like 458 as it is sporty as hell and also makes driver abit on the edge.
I have a Scud, a 2008 612, Mas GTS with 599 F1, and a Lotus track car but that FF is simply a brute - what a blast to drive - almost bought one last weekend - again very aggressive pricing but my wife got in a car accident - hit and run - she is now ok but got us off course on the FF - picture below - your dilemma is great - what super car should I buy - only a true Ferrari guy can understand the logic - I call it Ferrari logic - of course it makes no sense - I'm totally with you Image Unavailable, Please Login
First glad your wife was not hurt!!. You mentioned aggressive pricing for the FF, how aggressive as I think the one your wife is standing next two the dealer asking is about $350k. thanks.
brother. i have all of them. and i would recommend them all. but if i had to have just one, it would be in the following order: the ff, f12 and then 458, in that order. the ff is almost an f12. and way more practical. the f12 is awesome if space and winter driving is no concern and a 458 is awesome, until you drive an f12. done.
Gary I am a long standing customer with them so I don't want to disclose pricing on a car I did not get but call them directly - tell them you saw my posting on Fchat and see what you can deal - they want to sell - it is a totally optioned FF with a list of $401K - can't get it anymore loaded - corsa maranello with no standard interior - absolutely beautiful Again, sorry I don't want to hurt my relationship with them - awesome dealer
Ah the irony! FF is the favourite 'keeper' but that is the one dealers are trying to unload with discounts. It seems the market's perception of the FF has not caught on sufficiently to it's hidden charms... CH
ok so from the five models of Ferraris that are available if you need to pick only two to have, will be FF and F12? how about everyone else what is your opinion?
F12 all year round (it doesn't snow where I live). Second Ferrari from the current lineup? Are you kidding? If I got an F12 that would be all I could afford! But IF I could have a second current Ferrari, it would be a 458 spider or a California. Much as the FF is brilliant, I can't bring myself to own a car that I don't say, "ah, that's so beautiful" each time I walk up to it. The only car with near the performance that is even less "visually challenged" is the Panamera. Their owners must think as little of their looks. Around where I live, there are at least 2 Panameras regularly parked on the street outside overnight!
I have a 458 coup and a California. Hope to get my allocation for a F12 late this year or first quarter of 2014. 1. Keep 458 with f12? 2 keep California with F12 Thoughts? Thanks (Mechanic told me dump 458 for F12- f12 is a 458 on drugs. )
on pure looks, i think FF is way cooler and fresher than 458. so unique. 458 is a better looking 355. very nice but nothing new. f12 is the most amazing animal. for pure ferrari passion nothing they make, or have ever made for that matter, currently compares. anyone know how the 'used' f12 market is shaping up?
I have 458 coupe and a California coming in July and the same as you! deposit for F12 for early next year, and I don't know what to do, I really like my 458 coupe and the Cali will be my DD, so to have all three will be awesome but to much $ sitting in the garage I haven't drive the F12 but before the year ends I will, in Vegas they will have it or a test drive at dealer, let's see what happened
Didn't think there was much of one yet. Only UK car for sale was a black one which belonged to a footballer who was at the top of the list and as he obviously really needed the money on a measely $250,000 a week put it up for sale. Car was priced about $80k over list.
