    Hi all, What's everyone doing for alignments? Dealership? I need to change the rear driver tie rod on my 458. Thanks.

    I did the dealership. Also had them do the road balancing on the new tires. Had a hard time finding anyone in Austin to do it that I trusted.

    My dealer does an awesome job with 4-wheel alignment. That said a really great suspension shop is a wonderful asset.

    It's a bit of a hit and miss with dealers if you want a more personal setup. Some dealers whom also do a lot of racing will usually do this well. Dealers that just sell cars and do regular service can of course do the standard factory setup, but they are not what you want for chassis tuning.

    If all you need is a part replaced and factory setup, both your dealer and any decent suspesion shop can do it. All they need are the numbers.

    If you're looking for improvements, only use your dealer if the techs are used to work on Challenge cars etc. Otherwise find out what good speed shops other drivers in your area use.

    What about measuring the existing space between the adjustment nuts on the tie rod with a caliper, then just installing the new one and replicating it?

    In Houston you have Risi- they do a lot of racing and I bet they would do a fabulous job for you.

    I do that on my DD to get it close then have the shop do the lazer alignment. I check afterwards and usually find all for were adjusted slightly differently from original distance and sometime one quite a bit different.

    Thanks for the replys.

    I certainly plan to try to measure and adjust the new tie rod in line with the old one

    I may want to just go ahead and have it checked afterwards. It seemed to have a bit of a pull in it when driving, anyways. I'll see how it feels after I put the tie rod in.

    I will give Risi a call;

    Thanks.

    Hi everyone, what's a fair price for a 458 Italia standard alignment? I'm being quoted between $350 and $800 so far.
