    You've mentioned plastic inserts a couple of times. My wheels (both original OEM metrics and Superformance repros) have steel inserts. What year is your car that has plastic? That seems like a terrible idea, but I'm not an expert.

    What are these "inserts" that are being referred to? The only 'inserts' I am aware of are the Ferrari logo inserts in the center of the wheel. But that has nothing to do with wheel mounting. There is nothing 'plastic' involving the wheel-mounting area in my '89.

    Same here. My 89 wheels don't have any plastic aside from the center caps.

    Yes, correction, there are no nylon inserts. My mistake, a tire shop years ago thought the greeenish underlying wheel primer on the hub face was some sort of insert, it took me a while to realize that was not correct.
