I'm looking at a particular wheel and it comes in two different offsets:
    38mm and 48mm.

Which one will make the car look wider?
    Thanks!

48mm will make wheels look stick out further.

You just better make sure that they fit the car properly. I just went through hell and beack with wheels that were the wrong offset. Look great yes, but not worth the resulting headache.

    Thanks Eric,
The wheel manufacturer guarantees both offsets will work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    Have a great weekend!

    That is Incorrect

I'm looking at a particular wheel and it comes in two different offsets:
    38mm and 48mm.

am offet of 48mm will stick INWARDS by 10mm vs an offset of 38mm. Remember it is measuring the distance between the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface of the car. So if that distance is greater it means your inner wheel edge will be closer to your suspension.

Of course a negative offset is reversed of above, but that does not apply to most modern cars.

hmm, yes offset is center line of wheel to the surface that the hub will mount to.
so when offset # is larger, yes it means the distance outside of mounting surface is large, because its 1/2 of wheel width + offset. no? i might be confusing myself but thats how i understand it.
