What wheel options have you all seen for the 550 aside from the 575 wheels?
hamann (sp?) and bbs lm's look good on the 550/575 cars. novitecs. the factory mods are the nicest wheels imho.

The Novitec wheels are stunning. Do you all know a good place to buy them? Any second hand ones floating around?
If there were, I would have bought them. Our sponsor Exotica Motorsports sells them for $6200 plus shipping. 9 x 19 f and 12.5 x 19 r. Need 255/35 19 f and 355/25 19 r tires, only available as Pirellis right now. Hopefully you are rich and buy at retail, so when a set shows up, we will not compete. Taz Terry Phillips
For those who may be interested, OZ Racing produces modular wheels that would fit the Ferrari bolt pattern. The factory in Italy, near Padova will work with you on custom orders and would select the hardware necessary to make everything work and achieve the correct offset. The only problem is that they are not fast (the factory, not the wheels) and that tires availability is limited.
O.Z. Racing currently makes the Prodrive P-WRC1 wheel in sizes for Subaru and Aston Martin (http://www.prodrive.com/products_level2.html?id=26&p=12). I'm sure they can custom make a set for the 550/575. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had inquired about a set of OZ Galileo III to fit on my 456 without spacers. It took them a good while to come back with a reply, but it can be done by picking and choosing the right components in their production lines, as they are true modulars. The irony is that because it took them so long to reply, I had purchased another set, as I thought they had forgotten about me. IMO the quality and looks of OZ wheels is second to none, they are light and best of all are reasonably priced, unlike some others.
Alfredo- Tire Rack offers OZ wheels in Ferrari sizes. Or at least they do for the 575M. About $900-1000 each. Taz Terry Phillips
Taz, I started to deal with TTR, but as much as they were trying, I felt I wasn't going anywhere. So I went straight to the factory and as I mentioned, they took their time to find out what would work, but in the end they told me that the order would have to be placed through TTR. If you go to the OZ racing website a dn click on "choose a wheel" you can just input the brand and model of your car and it will show you what is available from the shelf. Besides that, they would also make something custom for you, with a little patience and some extra $$$. Of course, if you speak Italian it helps.
Taz and I have the same setup. Mine is the black car with Novitecs above. I get many, many, many compliments. However, it is not a cheap upgrade and the wheels are not as sturdy as stock, probably due to their ridiculous width. You also should know that the only tire made in the 355/25/19 is the P-Zero Rosso. Here's a new one I had to buy recently. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dave- Unfortunately, Pirelli is about to discontinue the 355/25 19s from what I see on Tire Rack. Will probably be hard to get replacements. Here is one of my front wheels. The other one is similar. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alex- The F430 set had 20" rear wheels. Looks like yours might benefit from 25 mm spacers on the rear, like Dave and I have. What size rear tires are you running? OEM was around 26.1-26.2" in diameter at the rear. Taz Terry Phillips
i've been told from an tire industry friend that because tire rack says its not available or OOS doesn't mean it is. has something to do with the way they buy. they had me back ordered for the 255/35/19 corsa's for months. a local dealer got them next day. i have 550 mods gathering dust in the basement if anyone needs spares...
I second the "original equipment" optional wheels - now called "Barchetta". They are made by Speedline for Ferrari. I have these on my Nero 550 (picture not yet available). Here they are on the 550 Barchetta for which they are the standard wheel: http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=978605 Cheers! Phil
Philip- Until the 19" 575 modulars came out, the Maranellos were underwheeled and undertired for their weight and power, like most Ferraris. One reason why many of us opt for different wheels and tires. The 575 modulars are more expensive than most aftermarket wheels, even used, and still a bit narrow at the rear for a 515 hp car with 434 ft lbs of torque. The Ferrari GTO ended up with wheels 1.5" wider in front and 0.5" wider in back than the original 599s, and the GTO wheels fit all 599s perfectly. The 599 is another example of an undertired and underwheeled Ferrari, this one with 600+ hp. The 18" modulars look fine on a 550 or Barchetta, but no way would I consider putting a set on a 575. Taz Terry Phillips
I second Taz' comments on the 550 being undertired, especially in back. I have two feet of rubber in back and it still isn't enough to transfer all of the power that the V-12 generates to the road. I suppose that the next stage of development will have to look something like this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Philip- No, 26 months ago he was asking what kinds of wheels were available for 550s besides the 575 wheels. His last post of 31 or so was in June 2010. Taz Terry Phillips
