I just had new tires put on and, after driving a bit, discovered that one of my rear rims was slightly dented from a pothole I went over last month. It's on the inner edge, so it's not a cosmetic issue, but rather a source of vibration at 60+ mph, so it will need to be addressed.

Any suggestions about where to go in the Portland area to get my wheel trued-up?

Thanks. My other alternative would probably be $500 + shipping for a used wheel on ebay. I'll see what they say.

I just had all four wheels repaired and refinished at Wheelcraft NW (in Vancouver behind the Harley dealer). VERY satisfied with their work.

The 503 motoring guys referred me to a guy named Scott Lozier, who makes housecalls, which would make it quite a bit more convenient than Skip's, who requires the wheel for several days. Anyone ever used/heard of Lozier?

There used to be a great shop on Macadam just south of the John's Landing area ---- next to "Specialty Cars". I can't remember, but I believe they were called "Plus One Motorsports", or something like that.

This has been some years ago, so I'm not sure whether either of those shops are still around???

Guys, am I remembering any of this accurately???..........it's been a while.....

A quick check on the internet says they closed in the summer of 09; the BBB gave them an "F "rating, supposedly for advertising issues. I'm sure it was just another victim of the recession.

Any updates on if you used Skip's, Scott or another vendor.

I have personally used Skips for years and recently began referring some business to Scott as again he is mobile. Both do amazing work. I have never personally used Wheelcraft NW but have heard great things about them.

As for Plus One, sadly they closed in 09 after 20+ years in business. Val (the original owner) had sold it a few years prior to that. Not sure what the reasoning behind the closure was but I know Tony that worked there for years opened up shop somewhere in PDX and is doing some VW stuff. Glad to see he is still around. And as far as the BBB stuff I am not sure how much weight I would put into that IMO. As a business owner we get approached all the time by there officers soliciting us for "memberships" they have even gone to the extent of threatening that not being a "member" can have adverse effects. I'll take my chances..lol

I tried to reach Scott. Left a message, didn't get a return call and got busy with other things. (Drove the car to work this morning--50 miles--and felt the vibration through my seatback at speeds from 55-80). Thanks for the reminder; I'll give him another call.

Scott came by today; super nice guy, right on time, etc. However, we discovered that late model Ferrari wheel hubs will not fit over the lead screw of his mobile machine; reaming it out would have made the hubcaps not fit, so we didn't do the job. Next stop will be Skip.
