Can Anybody with some patience describe the chronology of wheels/ tires for the TR's? I am mostly interested in what is being done by owners of 1985 and early 1986 cars, upgrades, what fits the splined cars...the whole she bang. thanks in advance for the info fellas.
Here is a very nice set on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-Testarossa-TR-18-center-lock-wheel-set-NEW-/110982957134?hash=item19d719884e&item=110982957134&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Just keep in mind if you have knock off style wheels & get new wheels, they may not come with the spline drive inserts. You can take the ones off your old wheels to use, but then you can't just switch back & forth between the two sets of wheels. You can try to source a new set of drives, but you will find that they are not cheap or plentiful. From the wording on that ebay link it's hard to tell if they are included with those wheels, best to ask any sellers before commiting.
At that price I doubt they are included. What I did when I bought my 86 TR is get a set of Speedline 18". I was then able to buy tires on sites like Tire Rack. And instead of metric size tires I am able to get "imperial" size tires. This means a whole lot less money for tires. and a lot more choice and availability. i use the original splines. the rims I bought were used, I found then here in the F-ads.
I still use the original 16s on mine. When the tires come up for sale, I buy them. Right now I have dunlops on them, hate them. I preferred the bridgestones before. I can only hope Goodyear makes a batch one day - or Michelin.
I am fairly new to ferrari chat. I am in the market for a testarossa and I have found one but it has factory wheels but they were painted white. Experts here where can i find the correct wheels and tire price ill look into after i find what im looking for. help
Not a huge problem/project to get the stock TR wheels repainted (since they are a conventional Aluminum alloy) -- if they are the 16" size (you don't want the 415mm size).
