Im getting 18'' wheels for my F40.planning to use them mostly for the track with michelin sport cup tires 265/35/18 front 345/30/18 rear. What would the ideal wheel widths be? Im going with the hre wheels

IMHO, HRE wheels would be a poor choice. Just ask your local P-car racer. With the tire widths that you can run on an F40, your problems would only be worse. I discussed(grilled) wheels with the Kenesis guy at Monterey for about an hour and was very impressed. I learned more about wheels than I thought I knew. This guy has been in the wheel business for a long time and I would trust anything that his company produces. He had a polished black anodized wheel that was the best finish I have ever seen. You need to get a proper motorsport wheel. Most of the factory style wheels are no longer available so a multi piece wheel is the best choice. As far as the F40 goes, you can fit 18X11 F and 18X14 R. A 285/30 will easily fit the front, I run a 295/30.

also would like to know about the benefits of such wide wheels as my wheel guy was suggesting 8.5''fronts 13''rears

I'll just have to say it's my opinion based upon what I've read from the PCA. PCA probably runs more track days than anyone and they have great tech.

More rubber on the road is the best option. However, it is hard to get heat into those big front tires but they outlast the backs 3 or 4 to one. Also, the pilot sport cup tires will look wierd since they are directional but not sided. The tread is asymetrical so it will look like on tire is on inside out. BBS makes great wheels as well.

I like the pilots, they just look wierd. I really like my stash of comp T/A R1's, but time moves on. The new pilots are really good. The best thing you can do for handling is get some new shocks. I've got 4 way Penske remotes, about 2K each buy worth the money. Ohlins or Koni are great as well but all require some modifications to fit. This will allow you to tune with springs as well. I have to talk to Roland about his sway bars. I'm planning on building some cockpit adjustable bars blade style bars but I need a starting point. Roland is the guy to talk with. Stock spring rates are 330lbs F and 380 lbs R. What would Roland use?

my car is mostly going to be a street car so I wouldnt want to affect the ride to much but would like to improve all aspects of performance with the least amount of compromise of street driveability. maybe you know where tofind a pair of original racing seats and +/- the price

I looked at the specs on the Recaro seats in the Demon Tweeks catalog. They might fit. Just depends on your size. If they don't you can always use them in your office. I was always a fan of the Profi.
