Hi all, I currently have a California T that I plan to trade in and buy a 488. I drive my car year round, and as such I have a set of "winter" wheels and tires for my california T. I'm trying to figure out whether or not these same wheels/tires will work on the 488.

    The wheels I have are portofino/cali T OEM ferrari. 8J x 20 with 45.7mm offset and 245/35 tires in front, and 10J x 20 with 51mm offset with 285/35 in rear.

I know that the front tires are identical to the 488 but the wheel are not. The 488 wheels are 9J x 20 with 44mm offset. The rear tires are slightly larger diameter and not as wide, and the 488 rear wheels are 11J x 20 with 38mm offset.

On paper it seems like they would fit however the calculator I found can't account for the brake calipers and potential rubbing when turning the front wheels. Has anyone ever used cali T / portofino rims on a 488 or F8?

If they dont work as is my options are either to buy spacers or new wheels and move the existing winter tires over since they will fit on 9" and 11" wide respectively. In winter I only drive when the roads are dry and while I might get on it a bit in a straight line this is just point A to point B type driving, nothing crazy.

Nope…size …overall diameter will mess up the ABS and Traction control due to front to rear diameter difference ratio….plus the offset will not work

Thanks, looks like I'll pick up a new set of rims and rear tires then. :)

There are some for sale that will fit your 488 for sale on this forum. @Eric C has a nice set of Vorsteiner like new for sale that are thousands less than new.

I've seen staggered sets on 488s but was wondering the same thing about the diameter difference tolerance. I have a set of Strasse 20/21 off my 458 I sold and
was wondering how they would work on the 488 I just bought. Not sure of the offsets as I haven't fit checked them yet but I guessing the diameter difference is not the same for the tires on them now.

I plan to at least try to fit the existing rims on, fully expecting they will not fit.

488 and 458 offset is different what worked out your 458 will sink the wheel/tire inward on a 488 in the rear. There are offset calculators on line for free you can enter specs into and see the difference.
    Wheel-Offset-Calculator

You can do bigger wheels 20/21 or 21/22 but the tire sidewall gets shorter so that the OVERALL DIAMETER stays the same as stock/oem. There is a slight very slight tolerance between front to rear overall diameter that the ECU will allow.

On a 488/F8 the stock overall diameter is:
    Front 26.8"
    Rear 27.2"
overall front to rear difference is .4"
When going with bigger wheels you need to keep the overall diameter front to rear at the .4" difference. You can probably get way with a .1 or .2" swing bigger in rear but that is about it. I bought HRE's for the 488 I had but stock sizes and just tweaked the offset a little.

I use to deal with this a lot on Porsches to buying 18" or 19" track wheels and tires to go on a car that had stock 19" or 20" wheels. Porsche allowance was around .4" too just a couple % difference in the front to rear ratio of overall diameter. If I deviated .2" ABS and traction control kicked in sooner than stock. I know this is the same situation with Ferrari or any car for that matter but have not played and tested the % difference Ferrari will allow personally. I would bet Ferrari tolerance is much like Porsche so be careful.

I have seen a few times at the track where a student shows up with track wheels tires of different sizes than stock and the car ABS and traction control does not work right....car brakes weird and applies rear brakes on hard throttle coming out of a corner and so forth. Very dangerous.

Yea, I am showing 27.2 rear and 26.75 front for my stock set up. The wheels off of my 458, 20/21, are 27.4 rear and 25.8 front and it had no issues which
surprised me as another 458 I owned did have issues and I had to put new tires on those wheels to be within .5 difference.

I am going to fit check the Strasse wheels from my 458 on the 488 to see how the offsets look. Might just sell them and go with spacers for the stock set.

I currently have a set of PS2s in 20/21 off of my 458, 245/30 r20 and 325/25 r21. They worked fine on the 458, what size would I need to run 20/21 on my 488?
