So another day another problem I put 355 wheels with new tires on my 348. Everything seems find now that I got the right spacers/bolts. I went for a long drive today about 50 miles. Over time the front wheels start squeeling and it gets louder and louder as the drive goes by. At low speeds you can hear the high pitch sound occurring once per revolution. At speeds is has become freaking loud When I brake, the noise stops, so I suspect the brakes/rotors somehow. There is also a very slight vibration in the steering wheel that I think was also there with the 348 wheels. My tire shop has an on car wheel balancer and I will asked them to rebalance the wheels, but I doubt wheels slightly out of balance could create such a loud sounds. Ideas? Thanks, -Eric
I have verified that it is indeed the front wheels that are making this horrible noise. I will take off one of them this weekend and see if anything jumps out at me.
yes. You can read the whole saga here : http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155736 short version, is even though all the info I had gotten through fchat suggested that I could simply re-use my stock 348 bolts as is with the 355 wheels, they were too long. It is unclear to me why this is the case, I think that perhaps my 355 wheels are different in that they are missing maybe 5mm of material from the hub. Possibly they have been machined, although it does not look like they were. That part will remain a mystery.
