Did they run out of names?
Or is it just to keep feminist groups happy?

I've known a few feminine "hurricanes" in the past so I could easier relate to that...

They alternate male and female. The next hurricane will be a female name that starts with the letter 'D.' Danielle, I believe.

I'm going to need your 348 as payment.

From the NOAA site at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml:

"Since 1953, Atlantic tropical storms have been named from lists originated by the National Hurricane Center and now maintained and updated by an international committee of the World Meteorological Organization. The lists featured only women's names until 1979, when men's and women's names were alternated. Six lists are used in rotation. Thus, the 2004 list will be used again in 2010."

I thought that if there is a hurricane that causes many deaths and destruction that it gets dropped from the list

Technically, by spelling it "Charley", they didn't name it after a guy. Everyone I asked considers that to be the feminine spelling of the name. Sorry if there are any guys named Charley here.

I always thought woman and hurricanes are the same: when they come it's hot and wet, when they go your car and house are gone....

I think they should stick to the huricanes being named after women. It only makes sence. The reason they named them after women was because, who has ever heard of a HIMicane? Hahahaaa.
