As Dino owners/enthusiasts, I think it is safe to say that we think the looks and handling of the Dino is pretty special. However, I'm curious which 12 cylinder Ferrari you Dino owners and enthusiasts lust after (or own, should you be lucky enough to have 2 or more Ferraris).

For me, I think a short nose 275 GTB would be my 12 cylinder Ferrari of choice or perhaps a 250LM if the stars aligned. However, I'm starting to get this thing for the 365GTB44.

What 12 cylinder Ferrari would you (or do you) have to accompany your Dino?

At first glance a 330GT is what I'd like. Love the lines, classic v12. Although I wouldn't kick a Testarossa out either, or a 550 for that matter.

A nice newish 12 cylinder car to drive when I need one with modern conveniences, A/C that works, seats that REALLY adjust, windows that go down, AND UP without any trouble, little stuff like that.

Yup, I think I talked myself into it. A 550 would be very nice in the garage next to the Dino.

Now all I have to do is find the money...

Funny thing about this thread -- my wife and I were discussing this very same topic about 2 weeks ago. She likes to drive our Dino (out of the city) AND, at the first GP at Indy, my wife commented that a 365GTB4 didn't look as big in the flesh as it did in photos, and maybe, just maybe, that would be OK. On the other hand, she also asked a few years ago about a 330GTC vs. a 365GTC (NOT THE 365GTC4). Choices, choices!

Boxers seem incredibly underpriced to me, but I've always liked their shape, power and balance. I recall 15+ years ago when FCA Club events placed the Dinos in the 308 group and Boxers were in the 12 cyl classes for concours events. Boxers were also priced higher than Dinos then, while today there is a significant spread with Dinos costing more.

Interesting. A small sampling thus far but it looks like Dino's and Boxers my be the Ferrari equivalent of peanut butter and jelly. Great on their own. Even better together. Something tells me that the Boxer is going to break out soon and start going up in value. Of course, I know people on the Boxer alias say that they been predicting that for a decade.

How about that 308 with the early single overhead cam V-12 stuffed in. Now that had cool and Wow factor to the max. I already checked the 246 and there would not be enough room to stuff in a V-12. Now an out dated F-1 V-10?

My Dino lives with a 330 GTC. They love each other, and I think the contrast is perfect: The traditional, elegant and understated Ferrari Gran Turismo, and the innovative and stunning mid-engined joint venture.

    Cheers,

    Julio

For me, Dino 206/246 is very unique and I don't feel to compare it with any other 12 cillinders car. Remember on 30 June 2006 we'll commemorate 50 years since the death of Alfredino. He died at the age of only 24.

To show you my appreciation for Alfredino, I think I will choose a Ferrari 250 GTO to stay in the same garage with Dino.

    Have a nice week-end!

    I have owned a 512 bbi and a 246 gts, simultaneously.
It is a great combination at an affordable level.
These cars represent the first 2 mid engine production sports cars for Ferrari
Now if only I had a Daytona Coupe at the same time.

    Michael,

I would think that the BB is the ultimate expression of the Dino in terms of driving experience but with a similar personality otherwise.

To me the question would be: what are you looking for in a V-12 Ferrari? I personally would want something different than what I already have so if I had a Dino would aim for a front engined car (in my case, since I have a front engined car, I would love a 365BB!).

    Regards,

    Art S.

A 330 GTS, hands down. I've been actively looking and they are either held by folks who want to advertize but don't want to sell (motorcargallery, Ed Wankerman) or they're non existent.

I'm into open air motoring and I've had a Maserati Bora for 18 years and Dino GTS for 14 years. The Bora was only produced as a hardtop and it is twice the car that the Dino is (flame me, I'll defend)
    BUT,
everytime I want to drive on a sunny weekend I'll pick the Dino GTS.
