What is your favorite time of day to drive ? I just got back from a night drive and it's by far my favorite time to drive, ripping through the city stop to stop light I love the way the lights reflect off the car, those darn Miami vice night scenes I guess...........
About 1am in the canyons/hills when no else is around. And yes, you the headlights helps you to spot oncoming traffic.
Early morning sunrise rides on the weekend (less work traffic)-- no traffic, you can see for miles, and cops are preoccupied @ hardees for breakfast.
Not necissalry (sp?) i almost nailed 3 deer in Philly one day. it was quite odd. But then again, its philly.
For a cruise, I will head out about an hour before sunset.. If I've got a wild hair up my ass and want to go tear up a canyon, night is the safest due to the reason Darth mentioned. I've had way too many close encounters with bikes during the day and the deer around here know Darwin well enough to stay the F off the roads. -Chris
Just before sunset, when I can turn on my parking & fog lights together & open my moonroof. That way, my car is in "cool" mode.
Early mornings on week-ends: - air is cooler (engine is grateful for that); - less traffic (left leg and clutch will thank you); - nice reverb off the skyscrapers when driving through downtown; - cops are still hung over....
I love night driving but the opportunities are few and far between. Those warm July nights when it's 75+ at 10:00 p.m...wow, there's nothing better. But, beyond the ten days on the EC when it's nice and warm at night, it's: Before sunset...after work, a nice back road ride, unwinding from a day's work...it's warm, light traffic, no worries, no guilt, just miles of road...lotsa turns, a few straights and a bump or two. Boy, I am looking forward to Spring/Summer...
Early morning for me - 4:30AM in the summer after driving all night, sun just starts to start peeking over the horizon, quiet, no traffic, usually by then I'm 500-600 miles from home so whatever I'm seeing as the sun comes up is new... I assume you guys mean driving the F-car... early in the morning or late at night, I don't like attention myself, and driving a Ferrari in traffic can be a pain at times.
Early AM, as in 1:00 AM for the reasons Darth mentioned. I'll have to try early AM on the weekends if I can avoid the hangovers.
that was great.. I prefer midnight to around 3am whether its in an exotic or my street bikes. Basically, the times I hate to drive are when the sun is completely out or when there is traffic and stressful **** going on. Sometimes really early, like the picture above can be nice, quiet, and relaxing...But for me when that sun is all the way out, the So Cal streets become packed and it becomes "blah".
Nothing beats the early AM drive on a weekend for those who said night, are you talking highway driving?
Early Sunday morning, because I don't get pelted by rocks falling off dump trucks, and you see other enthusiasts out doing the same thing.
At night in the city, rural roads aroung here have way too many deer and drunk rednecks around midnight. As for as highway driven I love just druing sunrise too.
