    Ferraris are expensive cars.

Every person that bought one innately must have some relatively high level of success, and each is arguably notable. That is true of all exotics.

So when do those people matter to the history of the car? Any thoughts?

I always thought my car was fun because it was published in the NY times in a piece around the previous owner whom I purchased it from, a famous artist, and my car was a piece of some of his work. In fact, his artwork was featured at Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari, I have pictures of the car around a famous musician and her estate as well where he showed it off, I never thought I'd advertise that or get a premium for it, just thought it was a fun historical note.

But when does it matter? I never thought it would, but Trump's car for example commanded over $100k extra because he owned it.

As I bought my car to drive a lot, the previous owner mattered only for his f-chat and public history and thus his traceable history and honesty about the car. That combined with documents gave me peace of mind. I suppose if you were buying for investment to sell later then a famous owner might make a difference.

It matters when the buyer will pay extra for it. ;)

    Prices aren't set in concrete.
Some buyers will avoid cars made on a Monday or Friday.
Some buyers will look for cars with a specific color interior.
Some buyers are in a rush and will buy anything they can find.
Low miles, service history, new paint, original paint -- different people look for different things.

There are even some who will consult the tea leaves. ;)

What matters is what the buyer and seller agree matters.

I guess it depends what you bought the car for? Some people buy them to drive them, some for the idea that they "own a Ferrari".. and it never leaves the garage. To me it doesn't matter who owned it but rather HOW it was owned that matters. I drive mine.

Things like "xxxx famous musician owned it" don't matter to me. OTOH if you say that "xxxx famous porn star had sex with 15 guys in the front seat"... I might smile and giggle at the thought. I'm sure it's a great leather conditioner, but I sure as heck wouldn't take the owner up on the ride. These slacks have just been dry cleaned. :)
