No phone yet....a friend that lives over there was supposed to get it and send it to me. Glad he's not in any hurry to get it to me, I wondered how many business calls I've missed on it.
My shop phone and internet service has still been in and out from the ice we've had....it's snowed damn near everyday here since Jan 1st and not been above 37 since early Dec.

This is the boat I maintain for a customer (the one with triple 900's). When I had the engines out, I thought about towing it down to the lake and just tying it up to the dock. Something like that would attract multiple 28 yr old hood ornaments. It's not really how fast your boat is, it's how fast it LOOKS. Or maybe it's just how big your dinghy is!

With having to pay the bills getting in the way, we're getting very, very close on the dyno.
The room is finished, 355 mounts made and the first coat of floor paint down.
Plumbing and electric this weekend then we'll be ready to light one off!

Ok, when excessive isn't enough........or how about when light isn't light enough....we have these. Only a little more cost than solid bolts, 1/2 the weight and no where near the cost of titanium. And wall and fence tested by a sprint car customer of mine. never bent or broke one of these bolts.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH03C02vvdo[/ame]
Dave, time to start swapping bolts out.......GFRT rules have said nothing about minimum weights.......

www.racebolt.com is the tubular bolt place.
www.racebolts.com is the titanium and aluminum bolt place.

I was shocked when we didn't find a broken or even a bent bolt after that flip.
There wasn't a straight tube on the car, but the bolts all held.

We used to get them from Boeing before they started keeping a close count on costs.

We ran the barrel drilled TI bolts in the suspension of Spec class cars but had to plug the ends with hot glue..... some folks would have called that "Cheaten" had they seen the holes.

The racebolts are grade 5. I'm one of those who lack engineering so I use 10.9+ or 8 in most stressed applications other than OEM because I don't know any better. Sometimes OEM may not know any better. These are from the bottom of the ball joint area of my 550 I pulled a few days ago. OEM bolts both bent! Now I am on a bolt hunt. They are in proper shear. Only conclusion is that PO let these bolts get loose and they were overloaded? Or they are just too weak for the application. The big one is the lower shock bolt. The little one holds the outboard part of the lower ball joint.

I heard thru the grapevine that the only thing left to do on your project was to put a dab of anti-seize lube on the wheel studs and you'd be ready for some smoke outs in the parking lot.

Looks like enginefxr finished his dyno about the same time....my hat goes off to you and Gary for seeing your projects thru in a timely manner.

Both of you'll are my heroes'

Trouble maker, time to check the roots on that vine... they are leading you astray! Once again this 'work' thing gets in the way of all best intension's.

I have come to the conclusion that I can effectively juggle 4 money sucking black holes at the same time (new horse in the corral, check one off) but no more than that. For that reason I left the Sprint engine in place until the Enduro engine is ready to make stink. Worst case is I throw on a new cam belt if the line gets drawn in the sand and I must show up for a GFRT event.... the engine proper is only 5 hrs old, it is just broken in.

Time.........., a precious and rare thing these days, all I need is time. Oh, and Focus would be a good thing as well but there is always some old cuss throwing distractions at me.... wonder who that might be? Space.... that too would be helpful as it had to go back in the trailer when the shop hit capacity. Excuses... I am full of them. I would be happy if just one of my Red Sleds were finished so I could attend an event as a participant in something other than a Jeep.

How many bolts have been within spitting distance of a torque wrench on your snorkeled Banana? Time to wash the windows in that glass house, the IMSA will make stink at the push of a button! You? PS, the Omni doesn't count.

Something like a kidney stone can make you think you are going to die right now. I can guarantee we are all going to die we just don't know when. You will never have time unless you "make time". So do you want to go flyfishing this summer or go racing?

Yup, just like Fred Sanford having the Big one. Six is my magic number. Six stones, six herniated disc's...... Damn good thing I am not a horse, they would have shot me by now!

Just too stubborn Fatso, I still want to do them all. There just seems to always be a distraction of one type or another that doesn't permit progress on relaxing projects as of late. SRI has taken every spare moment of my time for the last 6 years. Now with 3 of 15 of the current SRI projects near completion.... The folks I am working with now know for certain I am dead serious about what we are doing and it is no longer a matter of pushing the ball uphill. What seemed like such simple problems to fix proved complex beyond imagination. Years to identify and prove theories, years to prove most of my first assumptions wrong and years of testing variations. Now an educated Village Idiot, I have never been wrong about so many things in all of my time. Maybe, just maybe, now with the ball starting to roll on its own...... Im just starting to believe the light I see in the tunnel isn't another train.

Each SRI project led to thoughts of a new one to be employed and tested on the IMSA.... there is a rather Grand list of projects being dreamed of and drawn up for that car. I make up a plan, write it down, draw it up and then Bruce emails me a picture just to trip me up.... its all his fault. Two old race car builders with paper and pencil over thinking how to make the wheel rounder and squeeze another 2% out of it. You would have thought we would know better by now....

My ears are burning....did someone call me old? a trouble maker? Am I being blamed for screwing up projects? Being accused of throwing a monkey wrench into your Wheaties?

Well, I must admit that I have now become guilty of all the above....if I were in India I would also be guilty of killing your sacred cow...lol

Dave, how did you know I live in a glass house????

The grapevine was that new hybrid that is now very common to CO......I find the leaves tastier than the fruit....as a matter of fact it hasn't borne any fruit since I grew it.....but do I really care?????.....NO!!!!

As for my project???? I think it needs watering and another application of fertilizer.

You and the locals......... that's your hair burning, step back from the lighter !

The brilliant folks at the City of Boulder "accidentally" published a map showing grow house locations..."pass it down fool..." I now have the distinction of being located at Ground Zero for the Nations Medical Pot growing..... No sick person left without, there is enough growing in a two block radius to cover everyone with a hang nail west of the Mississippi.

I am going to remove the hoists and install pews in one half the shop and hydro-farms in the other. Overhead and insurance would drop to nothing. My biggest challenge would be to sit and watch the 'grass grow' and plan what to preach about the next day. Between tokes and sermons I would surely find the time AND budget to finish the IMSA!

I have to stop talking about that now.... it is starting to sound more appealing (and far more profitable!) than busting knuckles for a living. I wonder if gray hair would turn brown again once stress levels are reduced? I still have two daughters....... that wont happen.

Hi Dave, I am going to show you some mercy. After hearing about your past two weeks I had to go and get a refill on my Xanax.

The least of your problems is grey hair...wait til you get to the "no hair" situation...then it's time to start worrying.

Tell Niki to let me know if she runs across some Canadian seeds..lol

Now it's time for me to get to work and solve the "morning sickness" problem on the Hiller Franklin 6V350 engine.....and you think the 355's have valve guide issues???
