snippet: "... a $191,500 F1 simulator...The fully-suspended system can be tailored to provide feedback based on the chassis setup, wheelbase and track, tire and suspension settings, drive train (engine, gearbox, differentials), aero loading, aero draft (slip streaming), steering, brakes and driver aids such as traction control, ABS, and more. It even has seat belt tensioners..."

Don't know; ask John Galt. ;) (I'm only ~ 80 pgs into Atlas Shrugged so this could be a completely wrong response; I apologize if so.)

This link has a bit more info and a video of it in action: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2009/12/20/120k-cruden-hexatech-racing-simulator-is-the-ultimate-gift-for-an-f1-fan/

snippet: "...Among Cruden’s customers is Nick Wirth, who used it to test his design for the Acura ARX-01 Le Mans car before a real-life example had been built. Like Wirth’s forthcoming Virgin Racing F1 car, the majority of the ARX’s design was done using Computational Fluid Dynamics rather than wind-tunnel testing, showing the increasing role simulation is playing in car design..."

    That is pretty neat.

The one that Ferrari has sounds amazing...200 tons, (5) 3D video screens, 3500 watt stereo....now that is something I would like to try out.

I got to drive it several years ago. If they've got it for sale I'm sure it has come a long ways. They where using racer(www.racer.nl) as the physics platform for the sim. Perhaps they still are.

Cool but it'd be cheaper to buy a race car and track/race it. The simulation cost as much as the real thing.

Think of all the stories of someone handing over the keys to their supercar to a good friend or family, and the resulting crash and burn. There are a lot of them. With this, you just hit the reset button. You can also pick up familiarity with tracks you've never been to so when you get there you won't have as steep a learning curve.

For that kind of money you would think they could intregrate the screens to get rid of those seams.

Wow - that looks like it'd be a lot of fun! :D

At those sorts of prices however, I'm more likely to be having a go on F1 2009.

Speaking of F1 2009, has anyone played it (on the Wii)? The previous threads on F1 video games are a little out of date (updated in 2006 and 2004). :)

    Many thanks,
    Andrew.

There is a thread in this section :p there is a review in that thread about the wiiiii version.

There is also a Xbox360/ps3/PC version which will be out around Q2 this year. I believe they will be using the 2010 season.

    Thanks very much. :D

It didn't turn up when I was doing a thread title search for "F1" in the section.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

It's cool but all of its movements seem extremely exaggerated. If that was real life, the car would be popping a wheelie upon acceleration.

This thing would be cool with flight simulation, though.
