Yes, we have fun. Yes we drive fast. Yes we think we all know the limits of ourselves, and our cars. Let this be a reminder...to all of us. I only cross-reference this because I want to make sure that none of us ever face a situation like this. Ever. Drive safely. :(

OH man...reading that thread really saddens me... =(
    I wonder what happened?
could it be a mechanical failure?

I'm glad he is doing ok..but it's a shame he had to go through that ordeal.
An accident like that would surely lead anyone to losing confidence in that product.

Sad, but a least he lived to tell about it. "[the] 456 simply crumpled up like cardboard,..." Maybe that saved his life. The car is supposed to absorb the impact, not the passengers.

Sorry to hear this. Reminds us all how precious each day is, and that life should be appreciated to its fullest. Let's all be safe out there fellas!!!

And from recent personal experience, watch out for raccoons crossing the roads!!!

Thank you, my friend for making this a point of emphasis for all of us.
It serves as a sobering reminder.

I used to take my little boy out in my 348 Spider on Airport Road, one of the best roads in East Hampton. No roll bar in a spider.

Every time I did it I could only drive 7/10ths, not 8 or 9 10ths as we do alone.

Some of you guys are quite young.

When I think about how I drove when I was 17-22. Well, I should be thankful.

As we get older, we naturally drive slower. And it happens for a reason. We appreciate the fragility. I fear the day my son gets a license.

Enjoy your cars. But always hold back--just a bit. And be aware.

    Best,

    Rob

Yes, but what a life Sam. Not that I could ever comprehend the profound effect of this accident, but I am sure that sometimes he wishes for the alternative... Very sad -- and difficult -- for somebody to have to adapt their life at this point. :(

    Rob,
I share your sentiments. I keep thinking, "Man, how can I get my son NOT to drive like I did when I was 18."
But, I think if anything, you should actually be able to drive faster as you age - at least you will be more familiar with how to use your mirrors, understand to be cautious of other people on the road - in youth, they are all a bit invisible.
    Anyway...

Drive slow on the road. Drive fast[er] on the track. That's why I do that -- it gets speeding out of my system -- unless I'm depending on Ferretti to lead me home...

Not necessarily slower, bit much wiser (if you can call driving at three-figures wise...)
I like to drive fast, but I don't take chances the way I did when I was 20 something.

    Now when I was 19, I didn't drive fast.
Doing over 65 was crazy. trying to go over that in my '73 Pinto instant-incinerator was just plain insane and impossible with the laws of Ford design.

    I was a good boy :)

At one point in grad school (for about a year) I was driving an Aspire. Drove only at night to avoid being seen. Great gas milage though.

So, are there crash test data for any of the individual ferrari models?
