Unfortunately, because of my schedule, there are often large gaps in between when I drive my car. So far, the battery has been fine and it's started up fine after longer rests.

I have one of the battery charger things. Do I hook that up when I let the car sit for a while? Or is that something you use once the battery goes dead (i.e. instead of having to jump start it or whatever).

Also have been thinking about this question as winter approaches.

    Thanks

If you know your not going to drive the car for a week or two you should plug it in Zach. I do not know the specifics of the battery charger that comes with the F430 but if its a smart trickle charger it should maintain the battery without overcharging it and if this was the case you could leave it plugged in all the time. Batteries on daily drivers last longer because there always being feed, its not good to starve a battery then feed it.
