WHEN I START THE 355F1 ENGINE RPM GOES TO 2500

    HI GUYS
    MY 1998 355F1 SAT FOR I WEEK
    START THE CAR THIS MORNING SEEMS LIKE THE EXCELLERATION STUCK.....
    I REMOVE THE CARPET...START AGAIN.....RPM JUMPS BACK UP @ 2,500 RPM

    THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENS
    I CANNOT DRIVE OFF ...RPM REVIVNG TOO HIGH......

    IS THE CABLE STUCK.....OR IS THERE A SENSOR SOMEWHERE

    My 348 did that after doing some work to it. I thought I had pinched the throttle cable some how, but everything checked out. Started mine about 3 times with it doing that, before thinking about hitting the gas real quick, just to see what happened... I blipped the throttle once, and it settled right down. No more problems, and startup was back to normal. Hope that helps!

    Check your foot. It's hard for me to take it off the gas pedal. 8mpg at the pump proves my point.
    Seriously though, on some of my past sports cars, there was an idle screw that you could mess with to lower the idle RPM. I've also run into surging idle when there is a loose vacuum hose. I'm not sure if these cars feature either of these issues, but it's something to toss out there.

    I TOOK YOUR ADVICE....PRESS THE AXCELLERATOR PEDAL HARD ....BACK & FORTH
    FIX THE PROBLEM...ENGINE WAS REMOVE & REPLACE...TIMING BELT CHANGE

    THE SOCKET END OF THE CABLE ....MIGHT HAVE SLIPPED OUT OF THE PEDAL

    Glad to know it was something simple. :) I just wish I knew why they revved like that....
