Looks like the prancing horse has a little extra spring in his step-- Ferrari posted its 2005 financial results Friday, and to quote President Luca di Montezemolo, "It was an extraordinary year."

Ferrari shipped 5,409 cars in 2005, an increase of 8.7-percent over 2004. Deliveries were up 7.6-percent in North America, 11.5-percent in Europe, 41.5-percent in the Middle East, and 35.5-percent in South America. Sales in China doubled to 96 cars.

On the revenue front, Ferrari posted an increase of 9.7-percent to about $1.55 billion, driven by the success of its new F430 and the 612 Scaglietti, as well as its limited edition Superamerica and FXX models.

No wonder Di Montezemolo was smiling at the launch of the new 599 GTB Fiorano in Geneva (right) - 2006 looks set to be another very good year for his company. Now, if they can just get the Formula 1 team turned around...
