Or just board with living? Our fathers and grandfathers were tough as nails. Think about it. How good were the cloths back then at keeping you warm in a whirlwind? What if you fell in front of a car? How cold was it? And don't you wish you had all of those cars in one garage...

    Great stuff!

I've got a friend from Denmark here in Miami who'd try that in an instant, ha!

Sure it was all fun and games until...

We did something similar in college, but it was a drag race format with the "towee" getting to choose their platform (old skis, cardboard, sled). We never made it to the final bracket before the cops shut us down. To their credit, they were laughing as they told us to stop. I think my buddy and I with the old Jeepster Commando would have taken it.

The only thing that could have made that better was if we made it "spec" so everyone could play "fair" ! It isn't right that some people have a natural talent for it while others don't. Ahhh.......a thought......we could give out trophies to all just for participating. How's that for an idea ? :p:D

(Patiently waiting for the mindless rebuttal !)

What if the super soft ski wax degrades more quickly than advertised and suddenly the teams running soft wax are consistently getting better pace? Can a lapped skier defend his line from an overtaking car? Can you sharpen edges after qualifying? Do they ever run street circuits?

My father and a friend of his when in their early 20's used to waterski on the Saone river here near Macon in Burgundy...towed by a Facel Vega:)

There was an actual towing path for the barges right along the river, it's still there. This thread makes me want to try it sometime behind an F car or a Maser:)...err wait I only waterskied once about 40 years ago hmmmm....I have to think about this;-)

Someone already has been there, done that...

Anyway, all these games with cars are for sissies. In the good ole times, real men did Mensur. Or went to the Crusades. Or fought a mammoth with a pointy stick.

Thanks for that video, very cool, I wish my father was still here to see it.

Furthermore a yellow F50 is my favorite F supercar option, that is why I shot a cover of Cavallino with one when they came out:)
All other magazines had covers with a red one top off, I wanted to shoot a yellow one top on and thanks to its owner I was able to.

They still do this with boats- race from California to Catalina at around 100mph. My dad used to do it in the 1970s and they were national champions in their outboard class. One of the venues was Miami marine stadium.

The thing about the old time races was most of the time, drivers and riding mechanics would
be drinking whiskey throughout the event.

There was a story that appeared a few years ago about pre-war Indianapolis 500 races where
drivers and riding mechanics would ride with bottles of whiskey and they'd discard the empty bottles
on the outside of Turn 3 where by the end of the race a large collection of empties would be
    piled up.

Back in the days when life was cheap and a racer's life expectancy was very short, perhaps
the thought was, if they're going to go out, may as well do it with a buzz on. (Shrug).

Young men still do this. Just different sports:

    Mountain Biking
    Skydiving
    Rock climbing. (Not mountain climbing.)
    Snowboarding
    Base jumping

    Etc.

It's been awhile since I last watched. I had forgotten about the "set trees on fire" party game. Personally I prefer to burn pianos.
