What kind of conversations go back and forth when a driver gets bumped or thrown into the wall during a race. Do all of these guys shrug it off? Do they want to get back at the offending driver and is there a difference in actions when a pro is hit by another pro Vs a rookie?

Most of them try to get revenge on the track if their car is in good enough condition.

It really depends on the bump. If it is intentional and blatant then usually the driver sees fit to retaliate, if not right there then at another date. Some bumps are just racing accidents that can't really be avoided

Right. Then there's bump-drafting, where the car in back deliberately smacks the one in front to pull both of them forward. Usually seen on restrictor plate tracks, it's both expected and encouraged (on the straightaways!).

Retaliation doesn't usually happen immediately, most drivers are more subtle than that. Also, depending on the track it may be dangerous, so the offended driver will wait until the schedule brings them to a short track or road course.

Most of these guys are friends off the track, so they're not going to do (usually) anything stupid

Sorry. This is the one word that bears no relevance in a discussion about NASCAR.
