When the bug bites again...

Hello everyone,

Allow me to introduce myself.
My name's Roel de Fouw, I'm 22 y/o and originally from Holland. A few years ago I was a daily lurker on Fchat, with the occasional post or two (nicknamed Spawnz back then).
I was actually starting to get more and more involved in European ferrari meetings, and meeting some great new people, until disaster struck on June 20, 2003.
For those of you unaware of the tragedy which took place that day; Two incredibly nice people, Jens Haller & Amar Inam, both Fchat members, died when taking Amar's 360 around the infamous Nurburgring.
I was there that day, and god forbid any such events to ever happen again.

I'm sorry if I got off on such a depressing tone here, but I'm just telling things as they are.
Anyhow, my car passion was definitely put on low priority after that, and I actually stopped visiting Fchat at all. I did however put all my effort into pursuing my dream of becoming an airline pilot, and since then alot has changed.
I got through the selection process of the KLM Flight academy (yes, it actually works that way in Holland/Europe), and started off there feb. 2004. After about a year of plain ATP theory, I currently reside in the US for 6 months of actual flight training. At last!
It certainly is a dream come true and our homebase, Scottsdale, AZ, is a great place to live as well.

It is also exactly this place that has relit (is that correct english?) the ferrari flame in me. There seems to be no shortage of exotic cars around Scottsdale,
and seeing all these Ferrari's on the road here just gets my heart pumping every single time. I've problably seen more Fcars driving around in the past 2 months than I've seen in my entire life in Holland. I just love it.

Now, all of that said, I was actually wondering if there were any Fchat members living in or around Scottsdale... I would love to hitch a ride while I'm here.
Anyway, I'm back lurking the board, and enjoying Fchat for the one passion we all share; Ferrari's.
I guess the bug was permanent after all.

Oh, if anyone could tell me any good places to go considering racing/cars/whatever out here in AZ, please let me know! I would love to visit some trackdays or anything like that over the coming months, but I'm still pretty much clueless of where the action is at.
I'm sofar enjoying every minute of my stay, and I think it'll only get better.

ps: Rob, I actually believe you still owe me an Fchat polo, after guessing your 355's serial number a few years ago ;-) hah!
ps2: Does anyone know what happened to Jens' car after the accident? I just hope it was left in good hands... always kept wondering though. Wolfgang/Ton perhaps you'd know?
