Does anyone know when the 2006 model year 612 will arrive in the USA?

    Are dealers taking orders yet?

    Thanks.

if i'm not mistaken, the 612 was introduced after the start of the '05 MY - no clue if they called it an '06 or an '05.

generally speaking, the factory shuts down for the bulk of august. cars built after that are the subsequent model year. if you figure 10-12 weeks for construction and transport, the first MY'06 F-cars (again, in general) would in theory start showing up in the states in november.

not sure that was the question you were asking though.

    fwiw,
    doody.

Actually, the factory uses calendar year. My Maranello was an October 01 build, was an 01. The 612 was an 05, 06 mods announced at Frankfurt are for next year/06 orders. Orders now after Aug break are for 06's, IIRC.

Humm, I've heard that's not always the case though.....I think it goes by MY buildout.....not calendar.

I always liked that Ferrari doesn't seem to buy into the whole "model year" thing.

They certainly didn't seem to in years past.

I have had the good fortune to own two 365GTC's; one a number of years ago, and one currently. My current car is 12315, and is identified as 1968. The other was 12239, and was (supposedly) a 1969. So that would certainly suggest that one or the other is incorrect.

normally Ferrari introduce the new model just after the holliday in august when the production line is close.
when he restart to work the modifications are done.

What are they changing? Isn't it a little early in the life of the 612 to be making changes?

I thought incremental improvements were just added as they were developed.

that's been my understanding as well. TSBs and recalls and parts catalogs all seem to list serial number cutoffs, not model years.

LovinVanquishS didn't really explain what he was looking for per se, so i think he's gotten an inexact set of answers :)

    doody.

You guys don't read the Ferrari Market Letter...? Tsk, tsk... :)

"Ferrari also used the occasion of the Frankfurt show to introduce the latest version of the 612 Scaglietti. The new format for the 2+2 model, originally unveiled at the Detoir show in early 2004, was designated "Model Year 2006" or "MY06".

The standard specification for the 612 Scaglietti MY06 now includes leather trim, in the same color as the seats, extended to the headliner and the side panels running lengthwise between the A- and C-posts. The interior can be further personalized via the Carrozzeria Scaglietti program.

Standard equipment on the MY06 features a new radio and CD system with a satellite navigation system, voice recognition, MP3 player, Bluetooth and a compact flash memory card reader that allows the owner to store and play 4 GB of music. This system is integrated into a newly refined display on the instrument panel. Rear parking sensors are also standard equipment on the MY06.

Two 612 Scaglietti MY06 models were shown at Frankfurt, S/N 143671 and S/N 143672. One of them also featured the GTC handling package now available on the 612 Scaglietti. This offers a more sporting set of specifications with carbon ceramic brakes, a gear change software upgrade and 19" split rims.

My '05 430 is 143718, in theory built later than those '06 612's. I think they change MY's when they feel like it and not every model at once. Changes occur throughout the run, not just at MY's. The 430 option list has been revised several times in the 05 MY.

Also don't forget that some dealer fly their cars in, which is why you see some dealers with '06 models already. Flying the cars in takes 2-3months off the transit time in some cases.

I saw an '06 F430 at the dealership today. Only three options, red/black and seats still wrapped. Came in last night.
