Really looking forward to the Spyder. Does anybody know when we can order?
My guess is spy pictures will come out towards the end of this year and announcement early next year with summer 2012 deliveries. Obviously this is just a guess, no one knows really for sure.
You can probably expect Spider launch at Frankfurt show in Sept this year - thats 2 years after 458 launch. And expect the 599 replacement either Geneva next year or Paris. Most likely Enzo replacement near end 2012.
After the flex capacitor is approved for time travel. Couldnt resist sorry. All signs point to spring of 2012, but there is not an official announcement from FNA yet.
I've found that the easiest way is to contact seven or eight different dealerships. You'd be surprised at the variety of answers.
My dealer won't give a date. They said a lot of dealers throw out dates to act like they are insiders for info, but in reality, Ferrari is very closed book on new cars. All dealers will be invited to a dealer meeting and told at the same time. To date, no visibility at all to a 458 Spider.
I was at Maranello for the FF launch, next day during the factory tour we were given access to the V12 line. The V8 line is closed to tour participants for a month or so. This is I was given to understand was because full production spiders were being made for testing. Frankfurt Show for the launch.
I think a blow-torch could bring this to fruition with about a half hour. Donor car? There's a problem.
I liked those models. I can envisage a 458 GTS being quite sexy. Guess the simple answers to my own question would be - "they didnt sell well" or "cannabalised sales from other models".

I'm starting to become pretty frustrated with the delay between the 430 spider and the 458. I guess the California killed any enthusiasm for Ferrari to move any faster.
Lee, if you recall their was a 2 year gap between the 355 Spider and the 360 Spider in the US, so it is not without precedence.
