I ask first if they are a real cop. Then I say "Cause I didn't know they allowed ugly people on the force"

Its always gone downhill from there! I don't know why!

I usually end with, Officer, you know my brother don't you, he's your captain. So far, that has worked. Even a NY State trooper let me go and honored his card.

One time when I got pulled over driving through the desert from San Diego to Vegas, I tried to just be friendly to the cop. When he got behind me I put on my blinker and pulled off immediately and left him plenty of space by my window. I had my license and insurance ready and put my hands on the wheel. The cop wasn't much older than me and we got into this long conversation of him telling me about the fastest people he has caught, he was all excited about this one story of a Porsche he clocked at 140mph and he had a helicopter called in and radioed a cop further up the road to pull him over... he said they impounded the guys car, but he quickly paid bail and had one of his other cars dropped off to him. Anyway, when I thought he was really comfertable, I just asked if I could have a warning this time, and he said he would but he had already started the ticket and that he wasn't allowed to throw away his copy of it because his supervisor goes through each number.... what a bunch of b.s... I'll just be a d*ck next time.

The only thing you should really ask him/her is to see the radar for if they refuse, you will win. Other than that, the best thing to do is quietly wait for your ticket and thank the jagoff for giving it to you. If you argue, he/she will take notes and make it a point to nail you in court. Another maneuver is to request a trial by written declaration, make it long winded and force the cop write a long essay in his/her own defense with the hope they blow it off.

Thank you so much officer yes I will be much more careful next time..(handshake)....

Be polite, don't contest anything at the side of the road..only ansewer thier questions with yes or no, do not divulge ANY infomation. And avoid looking at the trunk! I learnd the hard way not to argue with a cop espeacially a rookie on a power trip at the side of the road.

The first thing they say is do you know why I stopped you. Just say no. Do not offer anything. No small talk, no buddy talk. Just be quiet and benign.

As they start to walk back to their vehicle just ask in a pleasant voice "you are not going to cite me are you?"

Remember, they all wear recorders on their belt and if there is nothing on the audio......:D Where as if you admitted anything they have recorded proof of your confession and you have made their job easy.

Recently I was stopped for 95 (laser measured) in a 60 and ended up with a no front plate $10 ticket. :D

    Here's my procedure;
    Pull over ASAP with blinker.
Roll down drivers window. If at night turn on all available interior lights.
Place both hands on the wheel before he/she walks up.
    Pull out paperwork when asked.
Be friendly and exact when speaking.
This has worked so often in the past but am still perfecting my technique ;)

I keep my driving record clean by whatever it takes and believe it helps to prevent a charge from getting there in the first place.

I used to have a Texas State Troopers assn. paid sticker and honestly believe it helps. I feel a free "Back the Blue" Etc. sticker may be counter-productive.

I was pulled over 2 years ago in my old mercedes because I blew past some old chinese lady that refused to turn left at the signal. I was being impatient and honked my horn at her while pealing out. The cop watched the whole thing. He pulls me over and Walks up. He asks me why I think he pulled me over it stated that " Yes officer I was being a little agressive. " He stated " Yes but what really caught my attentions was your tinted windows." So I replied " Oh sir I have a Prescription for those from my Doctor. I also have 3 pairs of Sunglasses for My Mygrain headaches." He said " Oh really I have never heard of that before. ?" SO I said " Yes in fact the prescription is back at my house if you want to follow me back I will show it to you. " He said " No that ok Mr Johnson you just slow down and stay safe out there'" Then handed me back my license and drove off..Of course I was total BSing him on the prescription thing. My wife was there as a witness..

Same cop pulled me over one year later in my Alfa romeo I was going 65 in a 40 and he let me go because I already had a fix it ticket for the tint and he did not have a working radar. oh and couldnt figure out what kind of car I was driving..He said Alfa Romeo what is that German??? Total Idiot. JJ

Offer a cash bribe. Don't be blatant about it, try and be discreet like offer to pay the ticket right there.

The money you spend will save you more in the long run in insurance.

I got pulled over once for not having a license plate.
This was my first time getting pulled over. I didn't know what to do so I stepped out of the car and went to the cop's car. He sent me back to my car and told me to put my seatbelt on. Then he just asked me why I don't have a front license plate.

Say "How thick is that bullet proof vest?" while rolling your eyes during the "bullet proof" part.

If he says something like "it's thick enough", you reply "I bet it's not and I would suggest YOU bet it's not."

My thinking is "If you got caught, then YOU got caught".

Cops want to feel power. I give it to them. They don't like people who are up on their face. Then again, sometimes you can try every trick in the book and still get a ticket.

In the past two years, I've talked my way out of 2 high price tickets (60 in a 40, 75 in a 25). I did get one, though, but only because it was the same cop who let me go the first time! :)

Officer: May I see your driver's license?
Driver: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.
Officer: May I see the owner's card for this vehicle?
Driver: It's not my car. I stole it.
    Officer: The car is stolen?
Driver: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's card in the glove box when I was putting my gun in there.
Officer: There's a gun in the glove box?
Driver: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot and killed the woman who owns this car and stuffed her in the trunk.
Officer: There's a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?
    Driver: Yes, sir.
Hearing this, the officer immediately called his captain. The car was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the driver to handle the tense situation:
Captain: Sir, can I see your license?
Driver: Sure. Here it is. (It was valid).
    Captain: Who's car is this?
Driver: It's mine, officer. Here's the owner's card. (The driver owned the car).
Captain: Could you slowly open your glove box so I can see if there's a gun in it?
Driver: Yes, sir, but there's no gun in it. Sure enough, there was nothing in the glove box.
Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I was told you said there's a body in it.
Driver: No problem. (Trunk is opened; no body).
Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, stole the car, had a gun in the glove box, and that there was a dead body in the trunk.
Driver: Oh Yeah, I'll bet the ******* told you I was speeding, too!!!!

if this fails...I just start crying

I got off a couple times by telling the cop that I had just put different size tires on my van. Then I say I heard that changing the size can throw off your speedometer. Is that true? If you ask the cop that question then it sounds like you don't know anything and they probably know more about it than you do. That makes them feel smart which they like. Then sometimes they will lose their attitude.

I have an 85% talk-my-way-out-of-ticket rate. Pretty simple actually; IMMEDIATELY signal to the side and pull over. Open ALL the windows, turn off the music (if applicable), turn off the car, place the keys on the roof of the car, take off my hat (if applicable), put both hands clearly on top of the steering wheel (10 and 2). The officer will immediately ask me why I put the keys on top of the car. In response, I tell him that my uncle/brother/brother-in-law/grandfather/dog is/was a police officer and thats what they've instructed me to do in case I get pulled over. If they ask for your registration and insurance and it's in the glove compartment make sure that you explicitly ask if it's okay if you reach over and open it. Make sure BOTH hands are visible. Do NOT make any sudden movements. They appreciate this. I get one of two reactions- I'm usually told to "thank your relative, I'm sorry for taking your time but slow down", or "I don't care who you know, don't name drop." I usually have several PBA cards or badges to back this up.

The 15% of the time I'm given a ticket its usually always marked down to a no seatbelt or failure to yield.

Be polite, never admit that you knew you were doing something wrong, be friendly and they'll return the courtesy. If you make them comfortable and they see you as a non-threat, they'll almost always cut you a break.
