I usually let family members and some really good friends drive my F-Car while I tag along as passenger to give them encouragement to rev it up. And then there are a few people in my circle that I would let borrow the car outright as I have complete trust in them.

    Now my question is this:
When you let your family/friends drive the car when you are sitting as passenger, where do you take them? On the freeways? Back roads up twisty mountains? In the city?

The first person I let take the car for a spin was a neighbor. I let him drive it on the back roads of a mountain with a lot of curves. He enjoyed it. However, I was a little scared (for both the car and myself).

The next person I let drive my car was when I went to visit him in San Francisco. I let him drive it through the city and onto the highways. However, I was a little nervous because of all the cars around us in San Francisco and I didn't know if my friend was practicing defensive driving when trying to get out of the city and onto the highways.

Then last weekend, I let a relative drive my car on a freeway that snakes up and around a mountain. Again, I got a little nervous while being a passenger (maybe due to speed and curving around a mountain).

From all of these experiences, I'm finding letting friends/family members drive on the local freeways (when no traffic) is the best course to show them what driving a Ferrari is all about. Taking them onto the twisty mountain backroads and through a major city makes me a little nervous being in the passenger seat. Taking them onto a less crowded freeway where most of the section is straight gives me the most peace of mind.

In the end, however, I come away with a good feeling that the driver had a blast and now has a better appreciation for such cars - which is what it is all about anyways - to share your passion and good fortune with others.

I have also let a fair few close friends and my brother (the rest of my realitives are in Greece) drive my 348. I trust my brother alone in the 348, no problems. When I let friends drive, I usally drive them to a quite section/area of road, then let them have a drive. I would never let them drive in any busy areas. Never have and I never will. Plus I also dont want everyone seeing them drive the car either, because alot of my other friends will expect a drive then also. :p:p

I seem to have grown up with just to many people around me showing a deep lack of respect for everything around them. I dont how other parts of the country, or the world are, but there are just far to many in my world that totally lack good decent respect for others property.

Since my childhood, I have more often than not had my things returned broken, dirty, or both. And I have heard all the responses, that its just "stuff", I didnt hurt your "precious" (insert various item here~>) ______, its just a stupid little scratch, I'll help pay, I'll help fix it, etc., etc.. They never help, and they never pay. Besides, the ones you really could trust would never return something broken or dirty in the first place. And after the few worthless attempts one or two have made at either paying or helping, I decided long ago I wanted neither. If I was stupid enough to trust them once, there is no need to trust them twice. If you want to prove a friendship just have them owe you money. Better to just write it off and fix it yourself while you swear you will never do "that" again. If they really are a friend, and are truly sorry, they will show you, no point in hounding them.

But, there are one or two I would trust a ways. They wouldnt want to afford what it would cost to fix a car like this, so I have to except some burden to take a chance. I have allowed them to drive some, but I am always watchful and in control. Others have allowed me to drive thiers, and I have always driven with care and concern not to harm anything. I cant very well refuse not to offer the same gift to someone else. But I can sure be really darn careful I get my car back the same way I gave it. But outside of my Father, if he were still able to wheel a car around, there is not one person I would want to turn loose alone with my Ferrari to go "take a spin".

Regardless of who you let drive your car, it's always the chance you have to take.
