Does anyone knows the breakdown of the market for the new laferrari?
No I do not. But I want to comment on the title of the thread. Saying "the LaFerrari" is like saying "the TheFerrari". It should probably be "LaFerrari" or "the Ferrari". Back to your regularly scheduled programing.
I hope at least one makes it way to India, considering atleast 3 owners had been to the preview at Maranello. Would cost an eye-watering $3m+ here, after all the import duties(458 Spyder is around $ 900,000)
There are no roads in India where you can drive it at 250km/h or more. Just the one track in Noida, and maybe a runway or two if you know the right people. Even the new highways suck--I was just there two weeks ago. I really hope none end up in India, or anywhere else they can't be exercised to their full potential. Besides, it's obscene to be tooling around in a $3million car with so much poverty everywhere. Bit like the Ambani residence in Mumbai. Do rich Indians not care about being so crass?
Zack... It it LESS obscene to buy a LaFerrari in the US when there are so many poor people in the world? Let's hope that anybody buying a LaFerrari, if he/she is american, swedish or from India, also donates some money too..
I certainly hope so, but to answer your question, yes, in terms of the immediate context, it's far, far less obscene. Take the poorest American, European or Australian, and he is 1000X far better off than the poor in India/Pakistan/Afghanistan/Mongolia/Thailand (or parts of Africa). Take the worst slum in these countries, and it is 1000X better than the worst slums in the hellholes. Most people don't have a worldview, but are definitely aware of their immediate surroundings. And charity begins at home. To be perfectly honest, I think there are far more Europeans and Americans doing charity work in these impoverished areas than there are Indians and Chinese and Thai nationals. Maybe it's a mindset that the west engenders...but I am always amazed by the American and European missionaries who give up everything to live in the sewers that pass for cities such as Kolkatta or Quetta. You really have to see it to believe it. Even then, you might not believe it...because usually what you get to see is about 10 levels up from the bottom. Besides, my comment was directed more at the driving conditions; the obscenity part, while true, was not the main point I was making.
Well that's great and terrible. Great to have some cars locally. Very sad to know they will never see the road in their lives here
Zack,no offense meant mate, but we are country of car lovers too,and if an LaF comes to India it would be the first of the Ferrari hypercars series here, with another 50 road cars which have been sold here in total. Noida track would be the only place to drive it at its full limit, and there is a person in Bombay who keeps his 458 Challenge there and get its to Noida to track whenever he wants, track days are open.Supercars owners in Delhi regularly track their cars. About poverty vs riches thats an age-old question. With years the rising tide shall raise all boats(Kolkata aint such a bad place, have lived there all my life). There are a lot of people who can afford an LaF at $3million here if they want too,but i guess with negligible presence of past Ferrari hypercars,i dont think Ferrari will choose to sell any. We live in hope. Sorry for going OT.
A couple of them should be in Dubai easy. Theres a supercar showroom here which will probably get it before anyone even receives it through the main Ferrari dealership.
That's the problem I have with India, Pakistan, Africa, etc.--the rising tide does not seem to raise all boats, only the yachts...! Agree with all your points otherwise. Have seen plenty of supercars in India, and I know of numerous Indians who own F40s and F50s in the US and Europe. So, one could end up in India at some point. I toured Vijay Mallya's collection in Sausalito, California a few years ago. He has some amazing cars, and I know he regularly sends some of them back and forth. Maybe his son will need a LaFerrari to get Deepika Padukone back. ;-)
Agree, the ultimate garage queens. Have to say it sounds incredible when it's fired up. the Official Video has some good sound bites.
