I am looking for a manufacturing area with predominantly hispanic workers. Seeking private companies with 100+ employees if possible. I know some industrial areas of dallas, but input is appreciated.
looking for local shops that employ hispanics. I don't care what they build....engines, parts, furniture, distribution..whatever. What areas of town is that? Harry Hines? Arlington? or where?
I know there are lots of hispanic guys who work for my buddy, at a trnsportation company. Does it have to be manufacturing?
no the industry is irrelevant. I just need a warehouse district or whatever where hispanics would work en masse.
I wouldn't want you to disclose exactly what youre trying to do, but may I ask a couple more general questions? Are you trying to market a good or service to the hispanic community as a whole? Or are you trying to find someone to do some work for you? If I knew generally what you are trying to accomplish, I can probably help you find what you're looking for. I grew up in N. Grand Prairie, so I am more in tune with the hispanic community than your average gringo.
Down by the tracks on Sheperd, north of Washington Avenue.....they seem to be manufacturing empty Budwieser cans..........
If you're doing some sort of marketing to the hispanic population, I'd suggest that you do it in the neighborhoods where your target customers live. It's easier to define a densly hispanic population if you define it by residential neighborhoods, instead of by workplace. Not all commercial areas are predominated by hispanic laborers, just as not all hispanic laborers work in commercial districts.
Unless it's a mobile payroll cashing biz, in which case one would want to target areas that predominately employee people without bank accounts -- those "outside the system". That's not necessarily race-based, as I recall a mobile one outside of UPS every other Friday way back when, and UPS hired everybody! Just a random comment, as I know nothing about what Jim's working on now
No insult intended by the phrasing. Not everyone has that extreme entrepeneur spirit that you display.
That's a great idea. I've never seen one of those, I bet it would work. Hell, that idea I would invest in. If I had any money. My boss' daughter and her husband started a firm that allows employers to issue payroll in the form of preloaded V/MC debit cards. Same idea - capture "banking services" type fees from consumers that are "outside the system." They were just bought out by a similar company based in Canada and got lucrative 3 year contracts to move to Canada and act as consultants for that company.
yes the preloaded cards was mentioned to me and I'll bet it goes that way for sure just as debit cards, gift cards and prepaid phone cards have become common.
Find the largest landscape companies around, park your bus there. By the way, how much is a bulletproof bus?
Keep this in mind: insurance (general liability, business auto, workers comp, etc) may be a challenge - underwriters fear the unknown. They make their decisions based on reams and reams of historical data. You approach them with a company with risk exposures that don't fit into their perfect little "experience ratings" boxes and you get back sputtering, sparks, smoke, and a ticker tape message saying "does not compute." Alot yourself some time to take care of the insurance aspect of your business plan. And find an agency who will think outside the box and has experience dealing with underwriters when it comes to finding coverage for a unique business. cough. ahem.
bulletproof bus? I was just gonna pull up in my bmw and pop the trunk! got a line on a bullet bus from the guys who build Brink's machines. They are out of Memphis. A friend got one done for $7K, but not sure where and then there is the cost of the van. Dave, I have insurance on my list so if you are game then so am I. Tell me what you need to know and what I have to do. Also, I wonder about insuring the actual cash too not just people and property. The guy I know who does this has an armed guard accompany his van and a clerk....retired cop or off duty cop. Good idea jim on LARGE landscape companies. I wonder how many issue checks though or do they just pay em cash in the first place? a question. IF, IF I do this should I logo the bus or go discreet? Catch 22 sort of...I want them to know what it is and where it is, but also kinda stupid it seems to put "Hey I gots $100K cash in here!"
Easy, use magnetic signs. Pull into the parking lot, put the signs on. Before you leave, take them off. Let the company know you're coming first, they can tell the employees. It's a service.
It'll be complicated, I'll tell you that up front. I'm also not going to promise that we can find insurance companies that will provide coverage. But if there is one out there that will, I assure you we'll find it. I like a challenge. I'll PM you the basic info I need to start doing the legwork. Tomorrow is a guaranteed slow day, and I am all caught up with my paperwork as of this evening, so I'd be happy to spend some time tomorrow looking into it.
Have you though about new residential developments? Lots of Hispanics working there. I've been around lots of manufacturing wharehouses in Tarrant county lately and I can tell you there are not as many Hispanics as I thought there would be. Central Arlington, West Grand Praire and I think East Ft. Worth all have high concentration, other places I've seen you would not want to go without a Sniper team and an 82nd Airborne Division Infantry Platoon ready to jump in and rescue you Hope that helps
Where's the first place hard working folks go when they get paid? Either the beer store, the bar, or the strip club. Do I smell Synergy? Image Unavailable, Please Login
