I know someone in the market for 348 and was doing a search . I discovered that there are very few for sales . Five years ago when I sold mine there were plenty on the market and going for pennies . It was hard to give them away at that time. I wonder since 348 seem to be scarce will the high mile cars command a premium ? Makes me wish I would have held on to mine . Regardless , I loved mine.
Lots of good ones trading behind the scenes at some serious prices. Yes they are becoming scarce for good reason
I am looking to add a second one - a serie speciale preferably - but I have yet to find one even close to my 348CH. If anyone knows of a late 92 or SS TB in any color other than red, please let me know.
They've been 'well' undervalued for ages, with most F model prices going stratospheric its no surprise the 348 is now joining the crazy party...I say at long last, the cars are awesome!
It's been a long long time since I've heard a 348 owner say "I think I'm gonna upgrade" We just keep em and let the others try to find something more satisfying.
You think it's that bad there. Here in the UK there is only 1 right hand drive 348 for sale in the 2 largest UK car websites which command higher prices than left hand drive. I just upped my insurance agreed valuation to £60,000 approx $90,000USD and was accepted. They are seriously rare here and spiders are even rarer and more expensive. Some are selling well before they are advertised. It's all good for owners
Agreed, totally.... But if someone came at me with $50k, i'd sell and use the money to upgrade to a new house! But that will never happen, so i'll just keep it.
I don't think that we have seen much of a change on this side of the pond. The problem is finding a good car.
I think that speaks more to the prevalence of drugs in society today than any real change in the 348 market.
Try and find a RHD GTS in the UK for sale - more chance of winning the lottery. I have been looking for 2yrs - not seen one for sale. Almost resigned to having a LHD, but they are now equal in price to a decent LHD 355. Based on dealer advertised prices - everything just took a +GBP10k step up from last year. I am a bit 50/50 as to it being a good thing. If they go crazy price, real enthusiasts won't be able to buy one and they will all become 'investments'. and i need a GTS to complete the family.
Finally sold mine and bought a Mercedes SL. This is a short term fix til I buy my Gran Turismo next year!!
As a data point, a friend just sent me a page from the Sports Car Market Letter detailing the sale of 82673 by Gooding & Co. at their Amelia Island auction. 1990 TB, blue/cream, just under 11k miles, two owners, said to be in excellent condition (2+). Keith Martin pronounced it to be well bought at $71,500.
I inspected that car and was ready to bid on it. It was very nice thought it sold for too much. I wouldn't put much faith in SCM's analysis. They said that I paid too much for my 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 two years ago and when the time came for me to sell it at auction so that I could move on to something else, it almost doubled from what I paid.
Its a '91 ts Rosso/Tan, but all the carpets and adjacent vinyl was changed to black. The car is very clean, rock solid and bulletproof.. BUT its a driver and has 79K miles, AND a bunch of upgrades and mods, which means its worthless!
