^ car presents well but description lacks details. for example: it says paint is excellent but doesnt say when it was painted etc. it mentions a mechanical restoration but ignores the interior. leather seats look good but carpet looks original. so if and when was the interior redone?
A mechanical restoration has nothing to do with the interior. If no interior restoration is mentioned then the interior most probably wasn't redone. Pretty easy. Feel free to contact auctioneers Artcurial in Paris, Mr. Matthieu Lamoure. Marcel Massini
obviously it was repainted but it doesnt say by who and when. no need for me to call auction house, i just stated the listing lacks clarification. similar to what everyone here is complaining about cavallino magazine.
This is one of the most spectacular Daytona's I have seen. Very intriguing blend of colors. Thank you, for posting.
So while I have no affiliation with this car, and have never looked at it (other than in this video), I tip my hat to the fact that in the driving video they actually take the motor into the yellow range. It always make me roll my eyes when demo videos up-shift at 5k-rpm and the drivers give some generic "wow" comment...
Twenty (20) Daytonas originally had Rosso VM 3171 (red) interior. 14261 is one of those 20. However, only one Daytona had a Testa Di Moro interior, when new. The one and only is 17019. Marcel Massini
I didn't know Maranello Concessionaires did Daytona Spyder conversions. #16761 see here. Description by Hexagon Classics. FERRARI 365 GTB/ 4 DAYTONA “SPYDER” RHD, 1973 32, 200 MILES VERDE PINO METALLIZZATO WITH TAN HIDE AND BLACK INSERTS Chassis No. 16761, Marcel Massini Report Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this spectacular Ferrari 365/ 4 Daytona, which is surely one of the world’s most iconic sports cars. This is just 1of 156 just right-hand drive examples manufactured. Our Daytona Spyder was purchased new by Ferrari dealers H. R Owen Ltd from Maranello Concessionaires Ltd in August 1973. The Daytona was registered to its new owner in September. The Daytona presents beautifully in its original factory colour scheme and is numbers matching. Tan carpeting and air conditioning was also specified. The Daytona was later converted to “Spyder” specification by Maranello Concessionaires in 1985, using the additional strengthening and support as per the original factory Spyders. The result is nothing short of stupendous. Thoroughbred and Classics Cars magazine later wrote about the car, “Had this dream come true in, say 1972, I’d have been the proud owner of a Ferrari 365 GTB/ 4. With its front mounted V12 engine powering the rear wheels and clothed in suitably stunning steel, the Daytona is to many the ultimate Ferrari GT, the final incarnation of a bloodline that stretched back via the 275 and 250 to Enzo Ferrari’s first road cars.” Although a Pininfarina design, as with many previous Ferrari road cars styled by Leonardo Fioravanti, the 365 GTB/ 4 was radically different, replacing the traditional rounded design with much more sharp-edged styling. All bodies except the first Pininfarina prototype were produced by Italian coachbuilder Scaglietti, which already had a well-established record of working with Ferrari. The magazine continued, “It’s diabolically beautiful, with stupefying proportions, that pin down the aesthetic senses, only for its deft and subtle detailing to coax them back… You’re left in no doubt that this was Ferrari’s ultimate expression of front-engined potency and performance. It has all the classic cues. The bonnet stretches endlessly with the cabin crouching behind it, submitting to the airstream with carefree bravado and, like a great work of art, the Daytona’s apparent simplicity is deceptive. In short, the Daytona is a masterpiece of the stylist’s art, and it’s beautifully built too.” Our Daytona Spyder has a very good history file which include the original H. R Owen order form, factory invoice, dealer invoice, sales brochures, service books, and period correspondence. The file illustrates a maintenance with Ferrari main dealers and the UK’s leading Ferrari specialists, culminating in a full restoration by Moto Technique Ltd in 1997. Added to which, the Daytona Spyder benefitted from a recent £120, 000 bare metal documented recommissioning by a leading Ferrari specialist, which also included the fitment of much-needed power steering. Benefitting from a full inspection service and new tyre set, this wonderful-looking Daytona Spyder is all ready for its next owner to cherish. Available to view now at our London showroom.

??? “Fastidiously maintained to concours standards” Sure can make one wonder what those “standards” are ?
There was an addendum to the lot; both doors suffered damage while in the care of RM, this was to be remedied at RM’s expense. Not sure if this cosmetic damage put off bidders both on site and online. Paul
